Colts release kicker Matt Gay

Colts release kicker just two years after signing him to the most lucrative free agent contract for a kicker ever.

 

Should the Bills be interested in Gay? (Not that there’s anything wrong with that).

Bills have been showing interest in kickers in the draft. Not sure if that may indicate the new ST coach sees something in Bass he doesn't like or what...but if the Bills are really interested in a new kicker, Gay may be an option. He was part of the Rams Super Bowl team that Beane has poached a lot of guys from.

I think they stick with Bass. A kicker getting cut right before the draft means they don’t intend to even have a competition, that says a lot about what the team thinks of him

Newly hired special teams coach comes in and dismantles the points division of the ST. That man better have a plan besides a draftee and/or Matt Gay. We’re not the Browns here.

Gay had great seasons in 21/22. Not so much 23/24.  I'm ok with giving Bass one more season to see if he can find 87%+ again.

The Bills used Jordan Gay as a "kickoff specialist" but often was a healthy scratch.  What a waste of a roster spot.  

 

Anything that reminds me of the Rex era gives me the chills.

So the guy who’s FG %was practically identical to Bass, his longest kick last year was shorter than Bass’s, and was terrible from 50+….gee yes the Bills should definitely sign him 🙄🙄🙄

Use one of those mid-round picks for a kicker and have him compete with Bass. This team needs to focus on TDs, not FGs, until the defense gets turned around.

In Bass' 5 years with the Bills he is 264/274 on Extra Point attempts.

 

Yes, his FG% is disappointing, yet when it comes to XP's, Bass is one of the best in the NFL.
