If I'm not mistaken, Pontillo's started in Batavia.

I’m in Atlanta now and we have a St Angelo’s just up the road. Good pizza and it’s the only place I will order wings, and they are from Grand Island. Our peeps are making the world a better place, one bite at a time!

Like @Logic said, I too am partial to my home grown pizza in the ROC. Now living in Buffalo, there are a few we frequent such as Bocce’s, Macy’s, LaPortas. These are entirely different than my many years eating Marks, Pizza Corner and Pontilos.

Shout out to LaFamigia in Greece as well.

P.S. I would also like to add, I find no shame in the occasional Dominos or Papa John’s visit. They serve a purpose from time to time.

Marks ventured down here for awhile before suddenly just closing.  We really liked it and never heard anyone say they didn't , I guess its just hard to make a dent in peoples preferences.

I live next to Macy's so I've had them plenty of times over 20 years

the gimmick pizzas are really just that a gimmick... I honestly don't go there anymore except for chicken wings which they do do very well

Most of that pizza stuff is all a gimmick and I've tried it a couple times with some friends and it was gross

Some of the stuff he does like putting bone-in chicken wings on pizza is a crime lol

A few of his crazy pizzas might be pretty good tho I only tried like 2

He does have great presentation on his pictures lol

His standard cheese pep... Solid not the best... 7.0

You're not mistaken... the original one is still on East Main St in Batavia but it's not owned by the Pontillo family anymore. The new owners couldn't talk the old man into keeping the Pontillo name when they bought the place so it's called "Batavia's Original Pizzaria" now.

Just curious...is it still the same recipe?  Never had Pontillo's before and would be interested in giving it a try

I gotta be honest. I have yet to have a great Buffalo pizza (have had some good ones, but nothing that knocked my socks off), and there is no food I love more in the world than pizza, so I've been BEGGING someone to tell me definitively where I oughta go to get a great one.

Is Bocce the #1 answer?

I have no idea but I doubt it.

If the old man wasn't willing to give up the Pontillo name when he sold the business I have serious doubts that he'd give up the Pontillo recipe.

Bocce is very good. I’d try “Just Pizza” in West Seneca, poppy seed crust, cheese and pepp or 3 cheese steak pizza with hot peppers also with poppy seed crust.

Bocce’s is my favorite, but a lot of that goes back to it being a treat when we had special parties at night around the pool as kids. This is a blend of objective test tasting and what you grew up with and learned to love. Probably like BBQ in some places.

Bocce’s has been known to be my breakfast in the hotel.

When I go back I’ll usually hit the Bocce’s across from Williamsville North HS. I promise, you don’t want to arrive right after school lets out. I gave up and learned my lesson!

Bocce is my favorite, but it seems like a divisive place.  People hate it.

Nobody goes there anymore…..it’s too crowded.

Sorry, I had to. People like different things, and that’s OK.
