With the 17th pick in the 2025 TSW Mock Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall

 

The Bengals need A LOT of help on defense, and there's no better place to start than up front. Aside from Trey Hendrickson -- with whom the Bengals still have not reached a contract extension -- the cupboard is pretty bare at edge. Enter Mike Green.

Green led the nation in sacks with 17 and had an eye-popping 23 tackles for loss. He's explosive, twitchy, has great burst and body control, understands leverage from his background as a wrestler, and he sets the edge with purpose. The Bengals sent scouts to Marshall's pro day and have been sniffing around Green throughout the draft process.

We view him as a top 10 talent and a great value at 17. The primary reason he slipped as far as he did is character concerns. Regarding that, Dane Brugler reports that Green has received "strong character feedback from coaches at Virginia and Marshall", with Marshal coach Charles Huff saying he’s “the most humble human being” you will ever meet. We did extensive work on him and feel comfortable with his character. Certainly any risk is mitigated by his tremendous, explosive upside.

I know this is completely random but when our friends @ JetNation made similar exercise he lasted until Bills pick and guess what - a smart poster named Dcat actually picked him for the Bills. And when you look at all picks in front of him it doesn't seem unrealistic at all.

Ehhhh, idk. I guess it could happen. I see at least 3-4 guys I wouldn't expect to be drafted in those positions. I don't think Harmon makes it to us at #30. 

 

Side Note: I would be ABSOLUTELY disgusted if the Chiefs drafted Tre. Just completely nauseated.

Is there anyone on the board that they would want the Bills to trade up for at this point?

 

I really like Emmanwori, but I do see him as a bit of a project.  If he fell to 30, I'd take him.  But I don't know that I would trade up for him.  

 

Other than that, Maybe Barron and Noelen?

Personally, I like Barron. I think he is going to be a good CB in this league.

With the 18th pick in the draft, the Houston Texans select, Walter Nolen DT Ole Miss.  

 

 

Conventional wisdom is o line.  But the top 3 OTs are off the board and the Josh Simmons injury concerns us.  We already got Trent Brown coming off the same injury.   
 

So, we’re going to build the best D line in the AFC perhaps the NFL.  
 

Nolen is my favorite of the DTs after Graham and Harmon.  We were convinced he won’t be there at 26 so spending the extra capital was fine in order to get the guy we wanted.  
 

Nolen was the Number 1 recruit in the country coming out of high school.  In 2024 - 48 tackles, 14 for a loss, 6.5 sacks and was a finalist for the Outland Trophy.  

Teams are dropping the “character concerns” nonsense in hopes he drops.  We aren’t buying it.  
 

We add him to a D line that has Will Anderson, Danielle Hunter, and former Bills legend Tim Settle.  
 

Good luck blocking us.  We will address o line later in the draft specifically interior where right now it’s too soon to take one.  
 

 

The Bucs and @CNYfan are on the board.

Yeah, I think he will be right up there with some of the best in the game within a couple of seasons. If we are moving to more Man concepts like I had seen some people saying, then I see him as a fit. Heck, I think he'll be successful no matter what scheme imo. The guy is that talented and has that kind of athletic ability.

Greg Cosell likes to compare him to Jalen Carter because of how strong he is for a three tech. Would have been at the top of my board if he got to 20, nice pick.

If these first two mock drafts have taught us anything. It’s that the Bills would need to get to around 15 for most of the players people want.

I think Maxwell Hairston could be the best corner in this class.  He has the least amount of questions to me.  Barron does project better as a slot corner. Sub 30-inch arms. He's this year's Brian Thomas for me.  Trade a 4th and go up a few spots to grab him.  Don't let another KC situation happen.  I think the 2 biggest homerun swings we could take, is with either Kenneth Grant or Maxwell.

He is my 5th overall player, so I don't disagree at all. But the Bills are pretty resolute on their physical specifications at corner. I don't see it changing.

You are a bigger fan of Barron than I. But if it was true the Bills wanted McDuffie and got jumped by the Chiefs, that would have shown a willingness to take a guy outside their usual type.

Additionally Taron is turning 29 soon, has a lot of tread on the tires, and is easy to move on from contractually next year. Maybe the Bills would be willing to take him and play him in a McDuffie role.

 

I agree that the Bills likey would go elsewhere, but maybe it’s possible.

Agreed. I am guessing if they trade up it's probably for Golden. IMO, if they stay put, they are taking a corner.
