With the 40th pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the New Orleans Saints select:  Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss

We already had interest in Dart and considered making a move for him to come in and learn from Carr if he got into range.  But with the unfortunate news about Carrs shoulder putting his season in jeopardy, we increased our efforts to unsuccessfully trade up near the top of the round.  But once the board kept falling our way we decided to stand pat and trust our instincts and are thrilled to see him on the board.

We love the combination of size and athletic ability that really makes him a modern dual threat type QB.  Dart is coming off a college career full of eye popping performances, and we have admired his evolution from raw talent freshman to polished senior where he maintained his aggressive play style while reducing mistakes and turnover-worthy plays.  We believe having someone like Carr to show him how to be a pro is only going to increase his potential and ability to reach it, and we look forward to getting him in here.

We are thrilled to come out of these first 2 rounds landing great value at both the 9th pick, getting a top 5 prospect in DT Mason Graham, and now landing Dart at 40 without having to trade up.

@gonzo1105 and the Bears are now on the clock...

HIGHLIGHTS - Fun watch

WITH THE 41st Pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, THE CHICAGO BEARS Select:

MASON TAYLOR TE LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY

Why:  The GM is trying to give Ben Johnson the same offensive pieces he had in Detroit by first adding Omarion Hampton, following it up with a LT to block for franchise QB Caleb Williams, and now adding Mason Taylor to the mix as the "Sam Laporta" of Ben Johnson's offense. I have always had Taylor as my clear # 3 TE and it wouldn't surprise me if you look back in 3 years and he is the best one to come out of this draft. Taylor has great hands and great pedigree as a pass catcher and with Thibodeaux being added via trade, the need for an edge rusher was lessened. The Bears also have picks 65 acquired via trade with the Giants and their original pick #72 to continue adding pieces to this football team.

Yeah I tried moving up too as I was worried someone was gonna leap frog me for him.

If saints come away with Mason at 9 and Dart at 40, that will be quite the value at both spots

@MrEpsYtown is on the clock

With the 42nd pick the ny select nick scourton, edge, Texas a&m

Reeling after just missing on dart.  Scourton is only 20 years old and affecting josh allen has to continue to be priority 1.

With the 43rd pick in the TBD mock draft 2.0, the San Francisco 49ers select Trey Amos, CB, Ole Miss

The Niners have a ton of needs and I think this was good value at a position of need and a really good system fit. Some draft guys feel like Amos is perfect for what the Niners want to do defensively.  We’ve talked about Amos a ton on here as a possible Bills target, and I am hopefully they draft him. I thought about DL here, but it seems like the Niners are targeting more 3rd roundish guys. I am happy to come out of this draft with 2 instant starters in Banks and Amos.

The Cowgirls and @Might Rather are on the clock.

Out of curiosity, which players would you consider trading up for?

And I mean two scenarios:

a) using one of our seconds to get to 19-20 range

b) using 109 to trade with Rams to 26

a) basically nobody. I'd only make a jump like that for a player in a different tier quality wise so unless Hunter or Carter gets there, which there is no chance of I'm out.

b) I'd do it for Matthew Golden and if the off field on either of them checked out I'd do it for Mike Green and James Pearce. They are the three guys to my mind that offer something at a premium position that I am not going to get later. They might not be overall different tier of talents but they have a critical element that I am not gonna be able to find easily later. Golden it's the combination of speed and route running, Green it's the quick translation of speed to power in his rush and Pearce it's the explosive get off.

Thanks. You are not making b) for Barron?

I would do Barron for a) if it was just me. But if I am putting myself in the position of the Bills.... I just don't see it. He does not meet their phsycial specifications.

Yeah I don't care what Bills will do, I was asking what you'd do :)

Wow, what a steal! It isn't impossible that Dart will be the best QB in this draft, or perhaps top two. I expect him to be drafted in the top 15.

Suposedly your former QB Milroe is one of players that got invited to the draft. So he is expected to be a first rounder if that’s the case. Maybe we get 4 QBs in round 1 in reality?

I think the lowest Milroe goes is the first 10 picks of day 2.

Tennessee - will take Ward 1

Cleveland - will either go QB at #2 or #33

Giants - doubt they go QB at #3 but it's in play at #34

Vegas - doubt they go QB at #6 but it is possible at #37

Saints - think they could very well go QB at #9 and if not it's in play at #40

Pittsburgh - increasingly feels like QB at #21 (they have no second round pick)

Six teams. Four guys. If three go in the first 21 picks then I expect those three early day 2 teams to be trying to move up.

I could see the Rams being in play too - unless they plan to go big game hunting by trading for a QB after Stanford leaves. They already have started following the Eagles blueprint of stacking the DLine. I could see them envisioning Milroe as their Jalen Hurts. Especially after Hurts’ running was so effective on them in the playoffs

Lots of opportunities for us to trade down.

With the 44th pick the Dallas Cowboys select Darien Porter, CB,Iowa State

Sixth-year senior with elite traits and special teams talent but only one year of starting experience at cornerback. Porter has the athleticism, burst and speed to handle more man coverage. He has excellent zone awareness with the twitch and ball skills to expand his sphere of influence. More schooling is needed as a pattern-matcher but he has the athletic profile to be an instant impact.

In the old days, Milroe would be converted to safety or WR in the NFL…it might not be a bad idea.
