At this point, he should just get the trade over with already

1,000%

A. Very few backs worth paying

B. He doesnt do the things in the passing game to warrant a 2nd RB contract (very few do in his defense)

C. All the best teams trade at top value. Max return & save $15M

D. I doubt anyone in that building/lockerroom appreciates the way hes handled this. 0 to 100 outta nowhere

That's because Beane's drafts are usually singles/doubles instead of homeruns.

My worry is that he's once again really backed himself into a corner (pun intended) at the CB and WR positions.  This appears to be an extremely weak year for both.  Meanwhile, the D-Line is loaded this year at both edge rusher and tackle.  It would be a great year to load up on the front.  But sitting at #30, I could unfortunately see us getting desperate, trading up to fill needs, reaching for value, and then settling for left-overs on the DL on Day 3.

Package picks and Cook to go get an impact WR/CB if we think he fits a need.  If not take that package and call around the league for WR1's or guys stuck as #2, who want to be 1's.

Were not going to land some perfect sweetheart deal.  Were going to have to give up picks, maybe Cook or someone else, and the player is going to be avail because he wants to get paid... and we're gunna have to pay the guy.

McGovern is only 27. It’s a no brainer to bring him back.

Edwards just turned 28 and he should be extended as well, though I could see Anderson replacing him.

Hot take…I think there is a chance Dion is only here one more year if Grable continues to ascend. Obviously if they restructure him, then he plays out for the next 3 years. Flame away.

However, if it’s me I am trying to keep this line as is with the current starting 5 for at least the next two years.

Does this signal that they don't view SVPG as the future at center?

The fact they are talking extension doesn't send a strong signal VPG is on track.

My guess is we extend Connor, and Anderson replaces Edwards after this year.

He has a long road to crack the starting center job anyways… that's my prediction

No, it signals McGovern has been excellent.

Tremendous signing,  hope he stays a Bill. Upgrade over Morse for sure, Beane deserves more credit for building this top 5 OL. Hopefully the same happens for the DL

Ya, Anderson would start for most teams, Edwards was the 6th OL before taking over, so definitely a good chance Anderson does the same

Would be great to lock him down for another 3 or 4 years. Has been one of the better FA signings we have had over the years. His ability to play G or C at a high level is helpful especially if SVGP develops into a starter at C. Good problem to have

He's only gonna be 28 this season which for offensive linemen is relatively young as they play at a high level into their early 30's. So a 4 year extension keeps him for ages 29/30/31/32. It would also help to have 4 out of 5 starters locked in for 2026. Offensive line as we all know benefits from continuity and right now 2 out of 5 starters (McGovern and Edwards) are free agents after 2025 so longer term extending McGovern makes sense.

I also agree that McGovern's been one of the best if not the best free agent signing since Josh signed his extension. He's been a high quality plug and play starter for back to back seasons and at a young age while being on a fairly mid-level contract.

That’s what they’re trying to do and this draft should get them an immediate contributor or two on D.

The Bills D only needs to make a few stops here and there to get it done.

Will that happen? We shall see.

DT, DE and CB.

Beane just trolling Cook at this point.

He should just trade Cook,  he is a good back but not a 3 down back and Beane need to get a 4th or maybe late 3rd for him and move on. This is pass first league and dumping 14-15 mllion into RB position is only going to leave us short in the receiver position

I don't get what people are hoping for out of a fifth round short-armed center

We literally have a better one right now... Svgp is squarely a guy who needed development

Why is everybody so eager to throw a fifth round pick out there to play when we have better people on the line

Our center is bigger stronger, longer, has NFL experience.. like I wouldn't be trying to get rid of him... And as I said Alec Anderson has played C, G and T .. was the most valuable sixth offensive lineman last year in the NFL

He's getting a crack at C or G before svgp rn

It's not about what folks are hoping for in a 5th rounder.  It's the reality that the team can't afford shiny new toys all over the place.  There needs to be some cheap "knock off's" where appropriate.  With the rookies and depth the Bills have on their line, I don't think it's far fetched that you could see next year in 2026 either Edwards or McGovern are gone.  There were some stories written back in Feb predicting Edwards could have been a March cut to save money.

Alec Anderson wasn't even drafted  but you're ready to play him over a 5th round pick.  Anderson may be better or maybe not?  I stated for 2026, by that point SVGP will have 2 years experience and still has 2 years left on cheap rookie contract.  Anderson is also unsigned next year too so not that certain he's getting a crack first in 2026.

Alec Anderson was the best six lineman in the NFL last year

By his contract status.. an exclusive rights free agent he couldn't negotiate with another team or receive a longer deal than what he got

He's in line for a good payday by the Buffalo Bills or another team  and the bills definitely value him by how much they played him

Edwards to me is the likely odd man out. Do they feel like they can have Anderson or SVPG replace him (SVPG to Center and McGoven back to guard)? I think McGovern is the better player between him and Edwards so if they like what they have in Anderson or SVPG then they likely would chose to move on from Edwards in that scenario.

I don't think your Dawkins take is that hot. Although I do think it is more likely Dawkins is here through 2026 as the LT. Maybe they kick him inside? Good problem to have.

IMO they'll keep [Cook] for this year and just take the comp pick in 2026.

Wouldn't mind being proven wrong on that, though. But they'd likely then have to use a 2nd - 4th on an RB. It'd leave us with no proven starter, though Davis might be just fine starting.

I hope so. It seems like I say this every year, but Beane needs to hit a HR in this draft. We have had to many disappointing performances by the defense over the years in the playoffs. Let's hope that changes in 2025.

Seems like I'm saying this every year.

It really isn't the defense in the playoffs. It's the defense in the playoffs against the Chiefs. And not to many defenses have stopped the Chiefs in the playoffs if they're playing well. Mahomes had a bad game in the SB this year. The Eagles defense was part of it, but not all. Even early when not rushed, he just wasn't throwing well.

Having said that, yeah, the D needs work right now, and the draft looks set to make a big start on addressing that.

I'd argue Beane has had some home runs over the years as well.

Milano, Taron, Benford, Shakir in the 5th. Bernard if he can stay healthy.

Plus a guy many forget named Josh Allen. He's at least a triple, I'd say.
