Draft Day Shocker: Giants take Ashton Jeanty with their first pick

I think he's a stud I don't think he's in the Barkley , Henry , territory 

 

30 carries a hundred yards against Penn State kind of dropped his stock slightly in my eyes .. like I don't think he's a guaranteed 10,000 yard rusher in the NFL 

 

And if you're taking a kid top ten you're definitely looking for years of production which is always scary with running backs

The Giants are taking Abdul Carter.  They would be idiots to trade out of that pick.  He’s the best edge prospect since Nick Bosa.

I take that point to an extent. But this top 10 isn't like many other top 10s. The opportunity cost of a stud running back isn't that high this time because there just aren't that many must have guys in this class. I think it is a decent draft with some good depth in spots. But it lacks top 10/15 types.

This sounds logical, the Eagles will need a new RB when Saquon retires in 5 years.  Giants thinking they can win without a franchise QB is why they’ve sucked since Eli retired.  Keep drafting skill players with top 5 picks, it’s working great for you.

Schoen would be chased out of town with *literal* pitchforks, if he drafted a RB after letting Saquan leave and win a SB at a rival.

Like if someone took him before Hunter, Carter or Ward (who isn't a better prospect but is a Quarterback) I think they'd deserve criticism. But before anyone else.... yea I'd struggle to crab it in this class.

I wouldn't do it personally. But do they believe that's what is preventing them making the Playoffs, a RB? Without a marked improvement, I imagine both Schoen and Daboll are gone. It's a big risk to take.

That’s assuming the QB’s you’re referring to are worth a #3 overall selection. Watch what happens.

You understand I didn’t say they take Jeanty at #3, right? He can garner good draft capital by moving down 4 or 5 spots and take him at 8-10.

What's so bad about that pick is that Eli was horrible the year before (19 Tds 13 INTS). To the point he was benched for Geno Smith.

 

The owner stepped in and reinstated Eli as starter and then doubled down and had them pick Barkley (who was a great player) instead of drafting a QB. Even if they had swung and missed, that still would have been the right call
