His former DB coach from NE is now on our staff, so it’s possible we’d be interested

69 tackles and 3 INT in 2024

7 career INT,  4 career TDs

but…he also gave up 10 TDs last year

So a younger 2024 Douglas 😂

Sounds like a guy that could use some guidance. McD seems like he would be ideal in this scenario but I don’t think they are willing to disrupt the locker room.

Best thing I could say about him is he did have 16 passes defensed.  After that the other teams threw at him almost 90 times and he gave up 8 TDs and a 98 QB rating.  He also missed almost 18 percent of his tackles. That and 5'11" and 175 pounds doesn't sound like a CB in the McDermott mold.

He was convicted of a burglary charge and agreed to a deal involving probation and community service for a loaded guns charge at Logan Airport. According to his lawyer he “never intended to bring guns to the airport.” But, ya know, he did. If he is looking at his 3rd team in 4 years, might be ok to pass on this opportunity.

He’s been released, and HARRRRRD pass

if our new DB coach likes him (having coached him)  I say sign him and see how he does in camp.  Worst case you cut him.  Best case he wins CB2 or 3

I don’t want him but Dane Jackson’s ranking is far uglier 🫣

agree. Jones should be immediately CB3 on the depth chart at worst….and above Dane

If released it’s a yes. I just like that he doesn’t like Patrick Mahomes.

him having a pick 6 on Patty is worth enough to me to give him a 1 year 2 mil deal for camp and see how it goes.  Our DB coach who was with him in NE when he became very good may believe in the player / connect well with him

I dont mind bringing in an ultra athletic guy to see if his career can be resurrected.  Like you said, he can be released if it doesn't work.

Good player, but it seems like he has a questionable attitude.  But hey.....that's why we have built the culture we have, though, right?  So, on occasion you can bring in a guy like this and hope that some of that great culture rubs off on him and he becomes the best version of himself.  I don't want to bring him in at any significant money, and I am not sure he would even be a starter by the end of camp, but I believe he is better than Dane and if he's boundary CB3, then so be it.  And, if he screws up or has those same attitude issues, then he's not on the team.  But I am very interested in bringing him in and letting him compete for a spot.

He's on his way to his third team since being Drafted in 2022. And there's good reason for that, beyond his play last season:

- On June 8, 2018, Jones was arrested at a Panda Express in Santa Paula, California, for commercial burglary. He pled guilty to commercial burglary, a second-degree misdemeanor, and served 45 days of house arrest.

- Jones was arrested on June 16, 2023, at Boston's Logan Airport when two loaded guns were found in his carry-on baggage by Transportation Security Administration agents.

- The night before the Patriots Week 9 game vs the Washington Commanders, Jones missed curfew at the team hotel and was benched and played a reduced role. He also played a career-low 10 snaps vs the Indianapolis Colts the next week He was waived the next day on November 13, 2023.

And obviously not on the same level as the first 3, but shows the kind of genius you're dealing with in Jones:

- Then the next week on Christmas Day, in a Week 16 victory against Kansas City Chiefs, he intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass, returning it for his second touchdown in two weeks. Following the touchdown, in celebration, Jones offered the intercepted ball to a young Chiefs fan. Jones then snatched the ball back after the child reached out to grab it.

You think this is someone Beane and McDermott would be interested in giving opportunity 3 and bringing in their locker room? I don't think they'd want him if he were a Superstar. And Jack Jones is FAR from that.
