Was this the game where Jests fans started fires in the stands?

I think you're right. And if so, I think it was also the last time they sold beer at a game after halftime.

They had a painters hat give away, as the Bills kept adding points, Jet fans burned more hats.  It was also my first game at the meadowlands.

Man, I vividly remember watching this game while at college in my apartment. The guys living right below us were Jets fans, and I remember cheering so loudly in this game that it had to seriously piss them off.

Good times.

Came here to ask that. Thurman went freakin off in that game.

Edit: Art Still sighting!

Edit 2: About 23:00 they're talking about Conrad Dobler, Al is talking about Dobler's book, "They Call Me Dirty." Dierdorf remarks "I'm just surprised it wasn't in crayon."  Jets were a 2 point favorite in the game lol

Edit 3: I just now realized they took away my Fruitful Bran

Enjoying this way more than I should and having way more recalls from my youth than I should.

4. Oct. 17, 1988 — Bills 37, Jets 14

The “Pumpkin Game” featured 41 incidents of improper behavior in the stands, 15 arrests and 56 ejections. Fans burned complimentary paper hats in the stands and batted around an inflated pumpkin. This game led to the stadium halting beer sales after halftime during night games.

I think I've made this comment on here before but they need to make a 30 for 30 on this game 😁

Chandman, you had me excited as I thought you were going to show Fandemonium.  I was there with both high school and college friends for the game when we clinched the division.  It was a blast as I was the 4th person on top of the goal post.  That is for all of 6 seconds until people climbed me like a ladder.  My buddy was so drunk Dave lost his sneaker in the debacle.

Big Old Freddy Smerlas blocking that field goal.

I was at my game with my Dad. I have to say, it wasn't much of a family atmosphere then but it was a lot of fun. That night (Campbells soup hat night) they were passing this inflatable blow up doll around the stadium (true story).

Anyhow, most people would just tap the blow up doll and keep passing it along beach ball style. This one guy gets it and basically just started molesting it. He was on top of this thing like it was his prison B word. Security came over and they really didn't know what to do.

Between all the fires and then a guy getting it on with a blow up doll the yellow jackets were having a tough day

This line really gave me a good laugh.  What a time that was when security guards didn't know what to in those situations.  Nowadays you would be getting arrested, ejected and fined without a flinch from the security team.

Me too njbuff!! That was a great night for us Bills’ fans in attendance.

The Jets’ fans were as classless as ever (worst one I went to by far).  I was wearing a Bills’ hat and a Rutgers sweatshirt and some Jets’ fan said “Rut-gahs and the Bills wha-ya a reetard” (still makes me laugh).  When we started to crush them, the burning followed and the “Joe must go” chants got real loud (end of the Joe Walton era ).
I think that crazy night was the reason the Meadowlands stopped selling beer at night games.  Great memory, glad this got posted!
