I played in a youth soccer league and wore #8 before LJ was alive. I am suing him now as well. I also wore 4 and 12, so those are mine too.

Lamar Jackson isn't trying to trademark the number 8, Jackson (or more likely his lawyers) was contesting a particular form that Earnhardt was trying to trademark.   In fact, Earnhardt said that it was a backup that they submitted in case they couldn't get the form of 8 they wanted.  Since Earnhardt got the trademark for the 8 he wanted, he has already withdrawn his second submission.

They're not really going to trademark the number either. The image of the number, art, etc. It's just not fun to be thinking like that.

Right, the story is trying make it sound like Jackson's trying to do something ridiculous when it is something pretty standard.

 

But like you said, however, it's more fun to make fun of Jackson.
