Yeah, I know. That’s what I said. No one’s getting paid $50,000 to goon it up like you claimed.

I speak into my phone so it doesn't always pick up my words correctly.. it was supposed to be $5,000 which if you look I actually changed it

I didn't actually realize it's at $50,000 till this morning but qmjhl... Which the players were suing in the last 3 to 5 years

Over agers .. 20-year-olds.. we're getting $20,000 before 2014... $550 a week

Now over agers get 4-7k

That's still money to play hockey with all expenses paid.. and you also get four or five years in juniors

You can still make 10,000 plus dollars playing major junior hockey in your career... Which most kids are paying $30k to play junior A or B over the same 5-year period

Paying $30,000 to play hockey.. versus actually making some money while having all expenses paid

The kids should be making more actually compared to what the owners are making... The players are well well well below minimum wage

Dude  phone speakers don't pick up everything .. it ain't the first time on this site.. it doesn't pick up there their they're and stuff which I actually just typed out..  it doesn't pick up lots of stuff especially when you talk like a fast New Yorker

They do get paid

And they weren't allowed to play ncaa because they got paid.. some of these kids were getting $20,000 10 years ago

That's not even the back door paying stars get

I'm not calling them professionals..  they are 16 to 20-year-old kids..  the way they are trained away from home during the time period is definitely professional.. and they did receive pay, more back in the day than now but still paid

That's why they were not allowed to play NCAA hockey for the last 30 years

Credit to the NHL they did a great job with the ceremony. Would have been cooler if it happened in Washington but otherwise everything was perfect. Including the goal. What a snipe.

Okay, I get it, your phone is to blame. You had a flat tire. The check is in the mail.

Ovi already said he is coming back next season. If he can maintain his high level of play as he will be 40 next year, then I wonder if he continues playing for a few years after that to try and go for 1,000 goals.

I had the pleasure of attending the game Friday night where he tied the record.  Great crowd.  When he scored the first goal with only 3 minutes off the clock you could feel the energy.

Every time he was on the ice the building was electric.  I thought for sure he was gonna get a hatrick and the place would explode.  However, it was super classy to have him not want an empty netter.

Great experience.

I moved to Virginia when I was 5 years old and  I had watched more Caps Games than Sabres, until I got directv in 1997,  I'm not a Fan, but I've always watched them and I like their announcers. Even went to their Cup parade with a friend Caps fan.  It was really fun.  The players were really sauced after the parade and were dropping effbombs on the stage after,  so funny.  But the pure joy in Washington DC that day.  I want that for Buffalo so badly.

I was born there but have lived in Virginia for 50 years but I still bleed Buffalo,  Joe B, caps announcer, is from New York and Lacher is solid in my opinion and they always had nice things to say about the Sabres fans and especially  Rick Jeanneret.

The great 8 is still a force and should keep playing if he wants to.  I thought Gretzky's goal scoring record would never be broken, but it has, just such different eras, I'm sure I'll be dead when a Ovies record is broken.

You know what is crazy...

Gretzky reached 500 goals in 575 games.

Ovechkin in 801.

Ovechkin broke Gretzky's in the same number of games as Gretzky's record, 1487!

Gretzky had a 226 game lead on Ovechkin!

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say Ovechkin is better. He played his whole career in a tougher, higher technology (skates, equipment, etc...) era where the rules did NOT let goons protect stars. It shows.  Gretzky slowed when the rules were changed about enforcers... Ovechkin picked up his game after #500. Granted Gretzky made do with more primitive skates, etc... was smooth... But as a whole,  his opponents were worse than what Ovechkin faced AND Ovi still made up a 226 deficit and beat Gretzky by 1 game...

In all fairness, #99 had a ton more assists, but that's because game changed and he had to start fighting through his own battles!

Crazy that AO got it with one game less than WG!

[DON'T shoot the messenger]
