Package Cook & a #1 to move up in this year's draft?

Cook is without a doubt an established top 10 running back and could provide immediate offensive upside to a team.

Cook isn't getting you very far. He's a Running Back. In the last year of his deal. Who's publicly angling for a top dollar contract. Being traded in a year of a very good Running Back class. All of those things make his value take a hit.

 

And trades have been lower than expected this year. Even DK Metcalf went for just a low 2nd. Joe Milton who was expected to yield something more was traded with a 7th for a 5th. The same exact trade (with a 7th for a 5th) was done for Deebo Samuel.

 

Cook's actual value (as opposed to some of the ridiculous valuations he's been given on this board) probably has a ceiling of a high 4th. Package a high 4th with Pick 30, you're not going up the board more than a pick or two.

Yeah, Cook & #30 might get you to #25. Keeping Cook another year is worth far more than that.

I'd doubt it would get you even that high. I agree that trading him is not worth the return. Have him playing his hardest in a push for the Super Bowl this year. And if you can't get him back, the comp pick that will eventually come will be the same or potentially more than you'd get not having him this year anyways.

What team in their right mind would want Cook who's going to demand $15m/year on a contract extension?  Especially with an extremely strong running back class.  The GM who makes that move should be fired on the spot.

This is idiotic, no offense. You said he "could provide immediate offensive upside to a team."  And immediate downside to The Bills if we trade him. We have him for next year and could always franchise him the following year.  He's staying

Why do people want to get rid of Cook this year? He’s under contract and will be motivated to play for his next deal. He was the second most important player on offense for the Bills last year. 
 

Who cares what he asked for? He’s not going to sit out.

Cook is not holding out. And the Bills will not trade an elite player, one just scratching the surface of his potential, to move up in the draft.

 

He saw how short an NFL career can be with Dalvin and will never waste one full precious year of his career.

 

He plays for the Bills this year, if Beane has any sense at all, and rocks the house, even more so than last year. 

 

But hopefully he does this with a 3-4 year extension in his pocket.

 

The second best player on the team.  You don't cut bait this quickly unless you don't want to Josh Allen's Bills to ever win the big one.

Do not trade cook. I’m not the “pay RBs guy” infact I’m the guy saying never pay a RB but it’s truly not that big of a deal. Use cap manipulation and pay the guy. He’s special. Win 1 Super Bowl then I literally don’t care what we do for a few years. Just win one. This guy is the 2nd best player on the offense. Just pay him. It won’t be crippling. The cap isn’t even real for the good/smart teams

Nope. We have one more year of Cook’s services. No mid-late first rounder (especially Beane’s pick) will be worth more.

Appreciate Cook but I don't feel he's a Saquon or Henry type, I mean he's not even a 3 down back. 

 

He's great in his role, that TD in the AFC title game was tremendous but he's definitely replaceable but I'd want to keep him for this SB run and for the right price long term

Depends on Cook’s attitude towards playing for the Bills this year on his current contract, if he can keep his head down and continue to be a positive vibe in the locker room and good teammate like he has up until this point, then you let him play it out and collect a 3rd round compensatory pick next year when he walks.

 

 If Cook decides to be a douche bag, then get him outta town for whatever you can get and just keep on moving.

It’s because he talked about money and now some people are butthurt by it

 

that being said if they did deal him, he will never have a higher value than he does now. That doesn’t mean he will move the needle much in terms of the 1st round
