On Pat McAfee, it's just mind-blowing how far down the pole of decency some of us allow ourselves to slide. He's after the 'key demographic' of 18-34 year olds. It's not an accident he did this, or kept pressing the topic- probably slipping ratings, but man no class to even dip into this. Jerry Springer, Giraldo Rivera, 'Married... With Children', political hack radio... it was all a bunch of trash which normalized this garbage- Don't get me wrong, MWC had a bunch of funny ish, but it was total trash entertainment. Problem was, people didn't get that, and demanded more and more. Welcome to the world of grown adult men talking scandalousness about teenage girls. Barf Where's Tipper Gore when we need her most Dude Married with Children was not like the other things you just lumped it in with 1 1 Quote

ESPN is nothing like it used to be. The only thing on ESPN I like to watch are the 30 for 30s but they don't even seem to be doing those anymore 1 Quote

Especially when you consider McAfee has the resources to buy the best defense attorneys. This reminds me of when McAfee was sued by Brett Favre for defamation. Favre withdrew the lawsuit with no settlement after McAfee clarified a few things. I guess that case is a bit different since Favre is a public figure and this girl is not. For this case I could see McAfee throwing some settlement $$ her way, but I'd be surprised if he loses the lawsuit. Quote

That guy is a POS and him being a shock jock doesn’t count as an excuse. But I guess I’m giving him what he wants by starting this thread. What a disgrace. The tough part is that he's not a shock jock. He's a new aged sports commentator. I think there is a line there especially because this starts to color way outside the lines of sports. If 2002 Howard Stern did this it would be another wild and crazy thing he said/did it would burn bright for a moment and fizzle until he did that next absurd thing. He also openly doesn't follow sports and it would disappear much quicker. Point being, PM isn't a shock jock. 1 Quote
appoo Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago it's not even difficult. You're a sports guy. Stop talking about sex and you'll be good 1 Quote

But keep in mind, once you’re in front of a jury, all bets are off. I’d expect a young college girl who didn’t do anything wrong to come across as a pretty sympathetic plaintiff. Quote

cgang Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago There is something about this story that really struck a nerve. I’ve been a member of this Board since 2005 (I think even before that in the earliest versions of this board) and I think this is only the second topic that I started (sorry all- I first posted this to the Stadium Wall and not this one so thanks Mods!). The thing that gets me is how callous McAfee and his bros were and how it wasn’t at all a sports topic. I am a lawyer and I don’t know how this will all play out, but I’m glad the young woman and her family are fighting back. I don’t think they are opportunistic btw. They want accountability and I fully support that. Can’t imagine how I would feel if I was her father. Hell McAfee is a father now to a baby girl- maybe he’ll grow up and want to be more responsible but I doubt it. His $85M gig is a lot. Quote
BillsPride12 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago It was irresponsible of McAfee to bring this up on his show but this story was already all over Twitter before he mentioned it. The way social media is used today especially amongst the younger kids is just a big cesspool and further declining modern society as we know it. Quote
