Any interest in discussing the latest allegations about McAfee and this time allegedly spreading rumors about a female college student from ‘Ole Miss?  Seems like this guy likes pushing the envelope (no idea why he felt like the rumor related to his show or subject matter) but it sounds like he amplified the damage by referring to it.  Zero accountability.  Zero apology… thus far.  He should do the right thing and apologize.

I used to like McAfee's show. But as time has gone by and he's said and done different things - his shtick has kind of run it's course with me. Even in WWE.

When you talk for a living - this stuff is basically inevitable.

Agree with this, especially when you blend in the social media world we live in today.  It's a recipe for disaster

It's pretty easy to vet your information via a credible source... or not talk about who sleeping with who if you can't.

In theory it should be yes.  And he will be held responsible.  But can you imagine having to fill up hours every day with your own voice, and having to constantly find new and interesting topics to opine about?  If you don’t defame someone you’ll cancel yourself somehow or piss off the wrong sponsor or bigwig or all of the above… you’re just asking for trouble in that kind of business.  No one skates.

Honestly, if that’s my daughter, I’m grabbing my shotgun and going McAfee hunting.

Exactly.  I have two daughters in college and I feel the same way.  That guy is a POS and him being a shock jock doesn’t count as an excuse.  But I guess I’m giving him what he wants by starting this thread.  What a disgrace.

If he did not even say her name and was not the first, there’s just not much of a case against PM. He mentioned, in passing (per the NYP clip) an already notable rumor, and therefore discussing something that has been news. There doesn’t seem to be any malice. And again, he didn’t say her name. That’s what social media has wrought on whatever we once thought of as privacy. Stuff bounces around and eventually can get amplified.

Of course, the lawyers don’t go after the person / people who actually started the rumor. They go after anyone who has big money and then tries to put all the blame on them. E$PN may do a settlement to just make it go away if the ask is reasonable, but I really don’t think in this day and age that the girl has much of a case against him.

One of the most boring, meandering hosts and sports shows I have ever watched--a perfect forum for someone like rodgers.

Watched a few whole shows and several parts of shows--unwatchable, loaded with filler and nonsense.

I've never listened to McAfee and never will, but I'm not clear on the legal merits of this case.

He never used her name and tossed out some "allegedly's". The guy is allowed to reference a rumor on his show.

The actual bad people in this story are whoever started the rumor, and anyone harassing/threatening this girl and her family. Those are the people that should be facing legal repercussions. They don't have deep pockets though so this girl and her attorney are not interested in them.

I don't disagree on the legal aspect, but McAfee had absolutely NO BUSINESS amplifying a salacious, sexual, completely unsubtantiated rumor about an 18 year freshman girl in College.  It's not illegal but it is absolutely ***** wrong, and we know Pat believes this by the absolute refusal to say a damn thing about this right now.

He and those barstool guys - people in their mid 30s, saw a rumor about an 18 year old girl and sex, and then ran with it. There needs to be consequences for this crap

“Any interest in discussing a podcaster who discussed rumors from several months ago about some random college chick banging her boyfriend’s dad?”

No? At least have the common sense to post this in “off the wall”.

"What?" - well it made sense in someone's mind- glad I'm not the only one who saw that.

On Pat McAfee, it's just mind-blowing how far down the pole of decency some of us allow ourselves to slide.  He's after the 'key demographic' of 18-34 year olds.  It's not an accident he did this, or kept pressing the topic- probably slipping ratings, but man no class to even dip into this.

Jerry Springer, Giraldo Rivera, 'Married... With Children', political hack radio... it was all a bunch of trash which normalized this garbage- Don't get me wrong, MWC had a bunch of funny ish, but it was total trash entertainment.  Problem was, people didn't get that, and demanded more and more.  Welcome to the world of grown adult men talking scandalousness about teenage girls.  Barf
