eSJayDee Posted Wednesday at 10:21 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:21 PM The only advantage I can see is if they host, the visitors will be traveling on a short week. Yes, that's an advantage, but I think it also would displease their players, particularly those w/ kids. 1 Quote

thronethinker Posted Wednesday at 11:58 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:58 PM I for one would not want every Christmas plan have to revolve around a game every year. 2 Quote

I'll tell you a Christmas story. Both my mom's mother and father were born in London, and she spent Christmas at her father's family's house. These people were the poorest of the poor before emigrating. Her grandfather was an East End day laborer who had 10 kids who all lived in two rooms. But they still made all the grand kids (my mom and her cousins) listen to the Queen's speech before they could open their presents. They also drank Harvy's Bristor Cream. For my WNyers, he emigrated and got a job at Kodak in Rochester. He made extra money working in George Eastman's gardens because he wanted only English gardeners. Then the rest of the family, including my grandfather, all came over after he had a job. They had tickets on the Lusitania in May 2015 but got re-booked on the St. Paul in August 2015. Neither my mother nor I would have been here if that "misfortune" had not happened to them. Quite the f-ing story. 2 Quote

GunnerBill Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago You mean 1915? In terms of the Lusitania sinking? I think the London part of your story may have some legend within it if it is pre the Lusitania. The King/Queen's Speech on Xmas Day only began in the 1930s. The only Queen to ever deliver the message was Queen Elizabeth II and she didn't take the throne until 1953. Quote
