It's fair to argue the point, Elam never showed with the Bills what he did in college for reasons we'll probably never know... to me he still looked markedly stiffer in his movement than what I've seen of Amos. But one of the other reasons he's making plays in this highlight package - my opinion - is those are some unbelievably terrible throws by lousy QB's. 1 Quote

I saw Elam do that. The 2nd highlight has Amos pressing a much bigger man, plastering him down the field and breaking up the pass. Elam is lucky if he gets his hands on the guy and probably ends up with cleat marks on his chest if he does. The one right after that, playing off and changing direction, flipping the hips a couple times, never saw Elam do that either. Yeah great change of directed fluid in the hips and runs on the high end of his toes does not drop his heal. Which makes him a lot faster to change direction 3 Quote

ROCBillsBeliever Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I'm really surprised that so few voted for DT - Darius Alexander - Toledo. I know... I know... He's a borderline 1st/2nd guy, but I think he would really fill a need, and I'm not 100% sold on Amos. Shadows of Elam. Ideally, I would trade back four to six spots and take Alexander, but it is what it is. Quote
Kornfed Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Greg Cossell calls W Nolan the best DT in the draft. I think Cossell is damn good at what he does so there’s that. He’s not Oliver as his weight is listed 305 so I’d feel ok with Walter Nolan. 1 Quote

We have enough 3 Techs on this roster already. 1 Quote

Which makes him a lot faster to change direction To me the biggest difference is we do see Elam playing on the line but you do not see him disrupting routes physically. He allowed free releases (and was a step behind). With the Bills, that was his biggest weakness - other than grabbitis. He whiffed comically trying to execute on rare occasions he was asked to get a jam off the line. Amos will press and disrupt line releases. This is key to countering what KC did to the Bills in the AFCCG, their free releases and easy yards just bled the defense. Philly molested KC in that 5-yard contact zone and you saw what that did. If anything that Elam rack makes me feel better about Amos - most of it is Elam playing off the ball in zone and crap QB's throwing the ball right to him, or a late throw allowing Elam to react and get back to the spot. For a guy supposed to be a man specialist he seemed to get beat by his man quite a bit, and recover only because the throw was bottom-tier. Amos to me is more reminiscent of McDuffie that Elam in what his rack is showing. Bills need a CB who can jam releases, can plaster and has long speed. 1 Quote

So because Elam was a bust that means we shouldn't ever take a CB in the 1st Round that is a long physical corner with some speed? Quote
Virgil Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago I'm going to drop the poll down to the top 3 around 9pm EST Quote
Victory Formation Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I wanted Mike Green the player, but there’s sexual assault allegations so forget that, I wouldn’t take him in the 7th round or as a UDFA. So I changed my vote to Donovan Ezeiruaku who I think is not too far off from Mike Green the player.. I do think the message board has settled on two very good players in Nolen and Amos however.. I think Amos is the better player at his position but Nolen is a good player in an area of need.. I’m okay with either so long as we hit on both of our RD2 picks. Quote

I just don't know if them together is the ideal combination. I think Nolen can play the run, probably does it slightly better than Ed although Ed's run defense has always been better than you'd think reading this forum. It's more just both of them really want to penetrate getting either of them to go full gas in a game plan where they are told, don't worry about getting home - your job is just eat up two blockers and keep them engaged that's your 1/11th.... yea. Not sure I'd get 100% out of either of them asking them to do that anything more than occassionally. Draft Nolan and trade Ed Quote

Williams above the already picked Grant. I would vote for Scourton, with Amos as the 2nd choice. Good research! Those choices need to be added, but probably too late now. Quote

NewEra Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I love me some Amos- but Hairston physical tools and ability to cover deep is intriguing. Amos is probably the better fit, but he doesn’t really cover deep as well as others. That’s my only scare. If Hairston were 195+ he would be my pick. But he’s not. Amos for me but I wouldn’t hate Nolan or Hairston. Green is intriguing too Quote
