Imagine a world where the US has the ability to choose the type of jobs our citizens have to work, focusing on safety and higher wage opportunity’s for the betterment of society. Sure, it doesn’t mean we can make everything we buy, but is doing so really in our best interest?

 

Don’t we have the right as the most wealthy nation in the world to not have to ask our citizens to work on assembly lines and clothing factories for minimum wage? Why not let other countries compete over that work? We can’t do it as cheap and if we try the best result is our citizens taking on the extra expense. In the best case scenario we can have a diverse group of suppliers from all over the world competing to sell us goods at the best rates. Then our citizens can be free to consume and purchase the things they want at the best possible prices. It almost sounds like utopia doesn’t it?

Oppose Trump Tariffs to their logical conclusion.  Don’t your taxes, minimum wage requirements, and regulations increase our costs?  

 

Or is this just all faux outrage - not tied to any consistent view of free trade.

I thought the same thing.  But I've been unable to find a report that refutes the number.  I did read that the tariff on dairy products was grossly misrepresented by trump.  we've never met the "small milk carton" threshold that he lied about and therefore never paid the tariff.  we've generally imported less than 1/2 the quota.  So, I strongly suspect he's lying about these numbers as well....
