Bills halt contract negotiations with Cook

What team in their right mind would want Cook who's going to demand $15m/year on a contract extension?  Especially with an extremely strong running back class.  The GM who makes that move should be fired on the spot.

This is idiotic, no offense. You said he "could provide immediate offensive upside to a team."  And immediate downside to The Bills if we trade him. We have him for next year and could always franchise him the following year.  He's staying

Why do people want to get rid of Cook this year? He’s under contract and will be motivated to play for his next deal. He was the second most important player on offense for the Bills last year. 
 

Who cares what he asked for? He’s not going to sit out.

Cook is not holding out. And the Bills will not trade an elite player, one just scratching the surface of his potential, to move up in the draft.

 

He saw how short an NFL career can be with Dalvin and will never waste one full precious year of his career.

 

He plays for the Bills this year, if Beane has any sense at all, and rocks the house, even more so than last year. 

 

But hopefully he does this with a 3-4 year extension in his pocket.

 

The second best player on the team.  You don't cut bait this quickly unless you don't want to Josh Allen's Bills to ever win the big one.

Do not trade cook. I’m not the “pay RBs guy” infact I’m the guy saying never pay a RB but it’s truly not that big of a deal. Use cap manipulation and pay the guy. He’s special. Win 1 Super Bowl then I literally don’t care what we do for a few years. Just win one. This guy is the 2nd best player on the offense. Just pay him. It won’t be crippling. The cap isn’t even real for the good/smart teams

Nope. We have one more year of Cook’s services. No mid-late first rounder (especially Beane’s pick) will be worth more.

Appreciate Cook but I don't feel he's a Saquon or Henry type, I mean he's not even a 3 down back. 

 

He's great in his role, that TD in the AFC title game was tremendous but he's definitely replaceable but I'd want to keep him for this SB run and for the right price long term

Depends on Cook’s attitude towards playing for the Bills this year on his current contract, if he can keep his head down and continue to be a positive vibe in the locker room and good teammate like he has up until this point, then you let him play it out and collect a 3rd round compensatory pick next year when he walks.

 

 If Cook decides to be a douche bag, then get him outta town for whatever you can get and just keep on moving.

It’s because he talked about money and now some people are butthurt by it

 

that being said if they did deal him, he will never have a higher value than he does now. That doesn’t mean he will move the needle much in terms of the 1st round

It won't happen and we're a better team with Cook on the roster.  Lots of time to get a potential extension done, even if it goes into early next offseason.

Fair, not sure why I forgot him...lol.  Thx, and yes CMC is worth that.

 

I'd never trade a top 50 for Cook, but I love him on our team...so it'd be a difficult decision to deal him.  Still think the likelihood is very minimal, but would probably be enough for Beane for pull the trigger (2nd rounder).

Obviously the fear for many is that Cook will become a problem this year in his quest for top money; that he'll employ the disgruntled playbook and hold out or even hold IN during camp. Not that he really needs many camp or preseason snaps to be a contributor during the actual season. But fans are clearly afraid of his big bad social media posts and the parallels between him and his brother's posts and a former WR and his brother's posts. 

 

I understand the urge to just ship him out ASAP to eliminate any nonsense, but then again, Cook has serious value in this offense and should be motivated to maximize his 2025 season. RBs playing hardball like Le'Veon Bell has not worked out great. Sometimes you have to enter a season with some question marks and trust that the competitive market will dictate enough buy-in for a win-win season of success for all involved.

Saw that Cook just put his house up for sale. Not sure what that means if anything. 
Think I read he is selling it along with some of his Bills memorabilia.
