Saving face and protecting against lawsuits.

Most of the folks actually targeted in these programs are long-time, high-ranking executives. VPs, SVPs, etc. It's a bad look for both sides if a company fires 25% of their VPs. Leads to questioning what is wrong with those execs and how bad of shape the company is in.

There's no way that the Jets have 250 VPs and SVPs.  If they are offering 170 buyouts, its getting reasonably low in the organization.

Oh for sure youre right in the case of the Jets. I was speaking more generally about how they are used in a larger corporate setting.

But the motivation is still the same with the Jets.

Save face, protect against lawsuits. Two things that are the top of the priority list for NFL teams already, let alone in the middle of laying off most of your staff.

I’m usually not one to comment on other teams here but this seems a very Jets thing to do.

Turning chicken**** to chicken salad in the article.

I usually get good annual performances where I work but if I got some kind of package I would definitely consider it and at the moment lean towards yes

You reckon they offered Rogers one ???

Putting my fan card to the side I would think if Pegula offered something like this to Bills employees a good amount would take a buyout.

To me anyway not sure what Woody is trying to accomplish besides making me laugh.

seeing as all they have is Justin Fields at QB, Aaron Glenn would be wise to put his name in now for the exit package

Mougey and Glenn will get the honeymoon period this year. But after year 3 and things still haven't gotten better than both of them will get the boot. Same as every other GM/HC they have had lately.

Damn...I have dealt with Jets group ticket sales people for years.  Truthfully, they are a dream to work with.  They really think of every little detail and go out of their way to make your day special.  I bought a block of tix for my sons 16th bday a few years back and they made his day awesome.  I cannot say enough nice things about their people in group sales.

Hope the people I deal with got a good deal and if they want it, they take it.  Shame that I may not be dealing with them in the future.

I said it when Pegula was hired - I wanted him to empty the organization. I didn’t want a single employee left. I know that is not really feasible, but the idea was

Worked wonders for the Sabres, yes?

Who hired this Pegula guy anyway?

Instead of a culture change, maybe he should think about a name change. It must be hard getting a locker room full of football players to respect you when your name is Woody Johnson.
