With the 27th pick the Baltimore Ravens select Malaki Starks, S, Georgia.

 

Kyle Hamilton moving back to the safety position transformed the Ravens defense last year.  Adding Starks allows either to move into the Joker role and keep defenses guessing.

 

The Lions and @TOboy are on the clock.

I thought that too until they wound up with Mason Rudolph at QB with a roster that can compete now with a better QB.  And there is talk now that they are looking at Jaxson Dart, who honestly, I think has as high of a ceiling as any QB in this draft.

I thought about taking Dart for the Steelers but I just felt like, we already have Mason Rudolph, do we need another one.

Ha, fair...but I actually do like Dart.  Although, that being said, I don't think the Steelers are the best spot for him because I think he is better off going somewhere he doesn't have to play right away and can sit behind a good or better vet a season or two.  He has a lot of exciting things about him, but he also has things he needs to clean up at the next level.  I actually think the Rams would be one of the ideal spots for him.

It looks like the Bills will have some options at positions of need without reaching very far.

Forgive me for being out of the loop.... did we make any position coach changes on the DL this offseason? I just have 0 confidence in our development of DT/DE despite this being a good class to pick from.  I doubt Beane thinks the same thing as me and decides "no sense in drafting those positions high" but from a mock draft standpoint, it could minimally decide a tie break for me.

 

We absolutely need a talent infusion there but also has a diminished return value, especially when needing high end immediate starter out of our 1st rounder.

We hired Ryan Neilsen as a senior defensive assistant. Dline is supposedly his bag. We will see. But I think they have to talent evaluate better there. Beane took AJE and from where he started I think the coaches have developed him well.... he also took Boogie Basham in round 2 who by the end of his 4th season was on the practice squad of one of the worst teams in football. That is an evaluation problem. Whether the coaching has always maximised Groot and Ed is a fair question.
