For some reason, QBs always get under-drafted in the TSW mock, especially after the first couple guys.  I don’t think Sanders deserves to go top 5, but I think he will.

I’m taking the over on that. I tried to bet it like 2 months ago. There were whispers that the media was a lot higher on him than teams. He’s not a top 5 talent. I took him at 9 in this mock. I think 6,7 and 9 are his potential landing spots in the top 10. Don’t be shocked to see Dart jump him. It’s POSSIBLE that Jalen Milroe goes before him as well to Pittsburgh at 21. That’s been another rumor. If Sanders or even Dart (who is currently rising) slip into the teens or 20’s you may see a team trade back into the first for them (maybe the Browns or Giants in that situation). It would be surprising at this point though for Sanders to go top 3. If someone loves him, maybe they trade up to 4 or 5 for him. It’s not likely though. 9 or lower IMO.

I reckon if we'd been doing them pre-Josh they'd have been overdrafted. Think it is a bit of symptom of where the Bills are.

Wilson signed a 1 year $10M contract (22nd among QBs) with the Giants, that’s not that far from backup QB money (Mariota $8M).

Sanders isn’t good?  His stats indicate otherwise.  2024: 74% on completions (highest of all QBs who threw more than 100 passes), 4,134 yards (4th highest) 37TDs (2nd highest), 10Ints and a RTG of 168.2 (4th highest).

Giants are taking one of the 3QBs, I’m convinced.  No way Daboll is gambling his HC career on Crablegs and Russell “hasn’t done anything since 2021” Wilson.

Ok, in a strong QB draft year SS isn’t a first round pick. To say he isn’t good is not accurate. I meant as a 3rd overall pick. Not super athletic, accurate but not strong arm, and holds the ball too long. Perhaps the Raiders are the best fit in round 1. QB’s always go higher than they should. You think SS is more likely to win games this years than Wilson ? I would disagree. Hey but you could be right 👍

Another thing I have noticed is people drafting their Bills draft crush for other teams when acting as the GM.  It might not be a team fit for who they are drafting for but it is a player they have looked into and really like.  This can sometimes lead to a bit of a bare cupboard when the Bills come on the clock.

With the 33rd pick, the New York Giants select, Donovan Ezeiruaku EDGE Boston College.

We think we get great value here and a potential stud to put on the other side of Thibodeaux.  Giving us a pretty darn good front that includes Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Chauncey Golston.

The Titans and @Virgil are on the clock.

He just feels like a Browns pick for better or worse.  They need a QB in the worst way and aren't scared away by character concerns, Deion, or the "protecting his stats" narrative.  I think his absolute floor is the Saints at 9.  That being said if he makes it past 9 the next team that may be in the QB market is Pittsburgh at 21 so it would be quite the fall past 9.

I think Dart is the guy who slips, there is always a random qb that "shoots up draft boards" in the media and then ends up not being the reality.   I could see the Browns or Giants trading up (Giants with Bills maybe?) to grab Dart if he is still sitting there and you are correct that they don't want Sanders. I do like the Dart to Rams idea that @Alphadawg7 had here as I think sitting behind Stafford AND working with McVay is a dream scenario for him.

I will be absolutely shocked if Milroe goes round 1.

The Tennessee Titans select Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State.

As is tradition for teams taking a QB in round 1, we get the 3rd best receiver on our board in the 2nd round.  Higgins can line up anywhere, beat man coverage, get down field, and win the jump ball.  We are thrilled the WR group was relatively untouched in the first round and hope Ward can build some early chemistry with Higgins.

The Jaguars @TPS are on the clock

With the 32nd pick in the NFL/TSW Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select, Walter Nolen, DL, Ole Miss.

The Eagles proved how to win Super Bowls, with a stellar Defensive Line/pass rush. Nolen will add to that process with his explosive first step in getting to the quarterback.

This ends the first round. Round 2 and the Cleveland Browns are on the clock.

If this happens, years from now people will blame Beane that he drafted for need while better players were drafted right behind us. And TSW poll makes the same choice lol

Milroe does not belong in the 1st IMO. The rumors have been that the Steelers like him a lot and have spent a ton of time with him. If both Dart and Sanders go before the Steelers pick it’s possible. There’s also the possibility that they actually have him as QB2. If that’s the case, they could pick him even if those other 2 (or 1 of 2 are there).

Dart just has a higher ceiling than Sanders. Allen went ahead of Rosen. Dart could certainly go ahead of Sanders. Shadeur Sanders is a good QB prospect but in the same way that Bridgewater was. He isn’t going to be a disaster because he’s so accurate. He just lacks athleticism and arm strength. As someone said earlier, he also holds the ball too long. If you’re going to throw late and don’t have the arm strength, or escapability, it’s hard to be great. His ceiling is probably Tua or Purdy. That just isn’t a top 3 guy regardless of need. For those guys to succeed, they need loaded rosters while they are on rookie contracts.  That’s what Purdy had until this year. If the Giants or Browns add Carter & Hunter prior to coming up for him, they are headed in the right direction. The tea leaves are certainly saying Carter to Cleveland to pair up with Garrett. The thought is to build an elite pass rush first and then find your QB.

Conversely, if Mahomes dinks and dunks down the field against Dane Jackson to eliminate the Bills AGAIN, people will blame Beane for drafting BPA with a glaring roster need.

With the 36th pick in the TSW Mock NFL Draft, the Jags of Jax take Max Hairston, CB, Kentucky.

Yes, the Jaguars are in need of help at the Corner position, and they pick the fastest man at the combine in Hairston.  However, Max the new Jax is more than just speed, and he excels at both man and zone.  He also owns the Kentucky record (3) for pick-sixes.  The dude is a baller.

The Raiders and @BuffaloBillyG are on the clock.

I'll come back and edit reasoning (of course this happened when I didn't have service).

The Raiders and @BuffaloBillyG are on the clock.

I got a good idea on reasoning... Jags team needs were listed as "CB, DT, CB"

With the 37th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft the RAIDERS Select:

Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama

I'm well aware of the general board consensus about Milroe. I can't say I disagree...

However, with the Raiders Milroe falls into the absolute best possible scenario for him to be successful at the next level.

First off, with Geno Smith in house now, Milroe doesn't have the pressure of starting and with O'Connell still here Milroe doesn't have to be the main backup. This gives him all this year as a red shirt season to work on and improve his mechanics. Head to one of those biometrics programs. Learn to pass the short to intermediate throws. He already does posses the ability to throw the deep ball well and is an extremely gifted athlete. If he gets his short game in order, and in interviews I have seen he seems laser focused on that, he can be a star.

Second, he is coming to a team where the minority owner is a former 6th round pick that went on to win more than a couple Super Bowls by using the short passing game and reading a defense, processing the play and making a decision . Those are Milroe's weak areas. Maybe a good guy to get some pointers or two from.

Third, remember the days when Russ Wilson was talked about as an MVP candidate? His coach remembers. Pete did well hiding Russ for years in Seattle. He also resurrected Geno Smith. Maybe Pete Carroll just has a way with QBs or knows who to hire that can.

In any event, the athleticism of Milroe combined with the history of Carroll to get the most out of subpar QBs, mixed with Tom Brady being a sounding board and the fact he isn't pressured  to play right away may just be the perfect mix for what Milroe needs to succeed at the next level.

Not sure if he’s better than Wilson year one, but if my career was on the line as a HC, I would take the gamble over relying on a QB that’s done nothing the last 4 seasons.

I would just like to say that seeing Buffalo reach slightly for a corner at the end of the first round to compete with Dane Jackson (again), only to see the world champion Philadelphia Eagles --who just beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl largely thanks to elite D-Line play -- get Walter Nolen two picks later would make me feel....some kinda way.

Not a good kinda way.

Ugh.

They coulda took Dejean last year, but were chasing the WR.

Yep just like they will be chasing a corner. It's deja vu.

I am interested to see what corners are still on the board when we get to our second pick.  That would add some context to what we did in round 1 here.

Freudian slip here? lol

With the 38th pick the New England Patriots select Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota St.

Patriots need oline help badly.  He's a mountain of a man without the arm length concerns of a Will Campbell.  Zabel has played tackle but may need to move inside.  He has played 4 of the 5 spots on the line and the Patriots need help everywhere so this is an ideal pick that can slot in wherever he proves to be most effective.

@GunnerBill and the Bears are on the clock.
