I’ve said repeatedly that I’m no draft expert but just like every other Mock that I look at, I immediately go to the guys the Bills did NOT take who were available just a few picks later. In this case the Bills draft class would instead be:

Nolen DT Ole Miss

Porter, DB Iowa State

Winslow, S Penn State

Anybody?

We ended up with a lesser DT but a better corner and safety than in that scenario IMO.

It shows you just how fickle the entire draft process is. Lots and lots of moving parts.

Just to clarify @GunnerBill, "that scenario" (with the lesser DT but better DBs) is the actual board's mock draft result, not the one being quoted here?

Thanks @Virgil!! This was great again. I actually enjoyed walking away hating the Bills draft 🤣🤣

Its incredible.

Last years mock 3.0 had us trading up to 19 for BTJ and I will never let myself get hurt again.

I still think about that pick.

Yea I think the board's actual mock was a better corner and safety but lesser DT than the alternative being suggested.

That said the biggest talent gap there is Nolan to Farmer. So fair to say is it worth that significant downgrade for smaller upgrades with the two DBs?

Yep. Who would recognize a Bills draft without a little disgust?

Well, I take that back. We did have a few good drafts.....in the last 40 years.

Exactly. Mine wasn’t so much a suggestion as an emotionless look at an alternative based on who was still on the Board in each successive Round. It was meant to show how difficult all of this really is. It shows that the Bills will have plenty of options this year. I just pray that we won’t be revisiting these top three selections in endless threads a year from now lamenting over all of the woulda shoulda coulda scenarios.

You know we will. We can’t help ourselves. 😆
