I’m out after the injury. A year ago, I was all for it. You can’t pay that and not know what you’re getting.

Agree. And if San Fran is willing to move him after moving Deebo that doesn't give me great confidence either.

And I am an Aiyuk fan. I was high on him coming out and I think he is a #1 receiver. A lower end #1 maybe, but a #1. I just think it is a bad risk / reward proposition at this point.

ahh forgive my ignorance!  I’d rather we just draft someone like Bond or Thornton

No need bro. I was one of those pounding the table for him when he was available.  Goes to show everyone that sometimes management knows what they're doing. Just another pro that falls off once they get the bag.

Definitely worth a shot, but not at that cost.

Both Aiyuk and Trent held the niners front office hostage last year and stole the bag from every one of their teammates.  Sure there is no love lost in the Locker room.    Makes me even more grateful for what Benford, Shakir, Bernard, Rousseau and Allen have done the last few months.

Sure, is trade a 5th for aiyuk + 2nd.

You're paying someone to take a risk and the $$.

I would take a second from San Fran for him 🙂

They can have a fifth and a sixth back to them

Aiyuk is only starting his 1st year of his 4-year contract and the 49ers want out already.

Can anyone say red flag?

Even with his current contract on the books SF has $40M in cap space and they still want to unload him.

Don't do it.

The new team would then have to pay the $22.85m bonus right away so good luck with that.  They're stuck with him.

So can the niners simply cut him to avoid the bonus? At which point he would become a FA and hence more affordable?

I am clearly not a cap expert so asking this for my own education.

Given what has been said in this thread - his injury, risk of him not being able to play well post-injury and high cost, there will be no suitors for a trade.

Yes, for $39M in dead cap.  If they wait it's $62M.

They just signed the guy, and they want out of the contract!

What does that tell you?

These guys are full of it. This is a fake self-imposed deadline that was leaked to light a fire under interested teams. SF will absolutely trade him after the bonus is paid if the deal is right.

No it's not.  It's right in his contract in Spotrac.

No because he can't pass a physical and the bonus is guaranteed if injured.  They'd still have to pay the $24.9m if they cut him.

Great catch. I read that and didn't put 2 and 2 together.

They are stuck with him as they should be.

Only a desperate GM would even entertain this trade.

Well technically, they save more cap in 2025 if they trade him post 6/1.

The Aiyuk saga has always been strange. They draft him in the first and the rumors were there was friction with him and Shanny and he was on the block early. Then he holds out and they pay him and now he's back on the block.

Weird stuff.
