The new team would then have to pay the $22.85m bonus right away so good luck with that.  They're stuck with him.

Reminder, his contract is very palatable for a #1 WR and even with the injury, still is considering the Diggs deal.  Don’t discount somebody taking a swing.  Doubtful it will be the Bills, but I would have taken that deal over  Palmer.

Seems like a planted rumor out from SF trying to get a team to put in an offer with a made up ultimatum.  SF would like to get someone to trade prior to a large payment going out to Aiyuk, don't see how SF paying him takes him off the trade market though.

It'd never happen. And that's too much. Aiyuk is #4 playing as a #2.

Aiyuk was / maybe still is a legit #1 WR depending on recovery

And I agree with you.  An Aiyuk trade is a bad idea unless he's acquired at negative value (player +, say, 5 for a 2).  The Diggs signing is stupid.

I was thinking either SF or Aiyuk/agent are trying to generate a trade

if he can get his contract worked out for us, and didn't cost to much i'd do it.  he would make the team better or the same at every position (assuming we get a starting cb and DT in the draft) than what we were last season, including having two real outside threats at WR.

 

i think this is more smoke than fire tho.

I was totally against signing this guy last year. A mid receiver that looks good in a shanahan offense. Now, after an ACL… 

 

Most of these San Fran skill players are pretty mediocre if you take them out of that offense.

It would be, if he were a bonafide #1. He's more of a top end #2, imo. I'm not sure he's an upgrade over Diggs even considering age.
