I say do it.  Why mess around, just package up a couple picks and get it done

@GunnerBill raised a good point.  Guys like Grant tend to go later in round 1 because of their limited impact in the passing game.  I suppose it’s conceivable that he gets within striking distance of pick 30…

I'd be surprised if he goes top 20. Dexter Lawrence at #17 is the highest I can remember a 1T going. They normally start to go late first.

Vita Vea at 12?  A lot of DT's that could make a difference in this years draft.  I like a lot of the 1 techs but with that said our front office loves penetrating DT's I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft Walter Nolen.  Not my first choice but I could see them doing it.  At least he's a plus run defender also.

Pretty reasonable deal as long as he’s healthy.

His concussion history had to play into the fact that his deal makes him only the 13th highest paid corner. I think without that concern, he would have signed for even higher.

I hope and think they will go after a 1T......it seems like the right draft to do it and while they do like penetrators they also have 1T needs and I think they understand that.

"Evidently, jmo?"

😃

It would be interesting to see how Josh would do throwing to Chase and Higgins.

Another reason Josh is at a different level is durability.

In 7 seasons, Josh has played in 111 of 117 regular season games... nearly 95% of all games. The only games he missed were in his rookie season.

In 5 seasons Burrow has played in 69 of 82 regular season games... only 84% of all games.

Well yes, lol, imo, that is evidently what appears to be the case 😁👍

The big factor is that he hasn't really been paid yet - his original deal had paid him less than 3M over 3 years.  He now gets some serious money a year earlier.

Watching his press conference, this dude has been through some stuff and seems very appreciative of what he has earned from hard work and dedication to the craft and thanks those few people who really believed in him along the way. There is some tremendous pain in those eyes. I am happy for him.

Nolen would be a win.

My gut says we need a plug (1 tech) with some upside and there are several but like I said I can see them (if available) taking Nolen.  I agree it would probably be a win.  We do stop the run well with scheme (for the most part) and Nolen seems like he'd be a real problem to deal with run or pass for offenses.  If what I've read is correct and Jones has been playing around 305 or 310 it's not a reach to think Nolen could play next to Oliver at 296 pounds.

Loved Benford's comments at the presser.   He's highly motivated to prove this was the right investment.

One thing I realized this week (not sure why it took me so long), but the Bills need a different type of corner than much of the rest of the league.  Beane kind of said this during one of his press conferences at the Owner's meeting.  The Bills aren't looking for a PI - a pile inspector - they want someone in the pile.

The system calls for heavy run and edge/screen support, zone like discipline, premium leverage, decent ball skills.  Speed is great to have but a 4.45-4.55 will do.  This means corner in the drat may be able to wait to guys like Zy Alexander, Darien Porter (likely 2nd round) and Denzel Burke.  Bills may be able to use the top two picks to address other positions.

And I think Nolen played 10-15lbs heavier than 296. I think that is his "workout weight" rather than what he played at. If I had to guess I'd say he was around 305lbs playing weight.

The kid from Texas is exactly the type of CB that fits our defense

Which kid from Texas? Barron? He doesn't have the length they require in corners. I love him. He is 5th on my big board. But I very much doubt the Bills consider him a fit.

Don't you think that they are able to evolve? Elam had measurables McDuffie didn't and how it turned out?
