I think we should bring him back

I think so too, I know a lot of fans maybe want something more there but on a one year deal just to have a good stable option going into the draft sounds like a good idea to me. Having a stable starting option for one more season to compete with a rookie can’t be bad

I'd be shocked if Beane was willing to give Cook anywhere near what he wants.

What do you think he would give?

A copy of the 4th year of Cooks contract and draft a stud 5th rounder this year so Cook can get cut in '26

This is what happens when you have a well run organization that is a legit contender every year.

The palm trees and taxes do not matter … as much.

Just makes the same team run by the same owner and their situation absolutely infuriating.

Terry loves the Sabres too much, he needs to be a fan and not a active owner with them. Hire a President and put one of the kids in charge of them.

Good player.  Maybe our best on defense but has had availability issues.  Struggles with man coverage unfortunately but a good deal for all.

This is simply not true.

That’s interesting. I’ve never heard it put quite that way, and it makes some sense. I left after the French Connection, then lost track of them. It was too hard to keep up back then, and I guess I didn’t miss much.

My SIL worked in the major donor field at PSU. She knew who Terry Pegula was!

Beane has done a really good job of re-signing our core players to team friendly deals in this market (maybe they’re upgrading the team charter!).  I agree that the Benford deal is the best one yet.  And, it makes me feel much better about the concussions.

Struggles with man?? Based on what ? Statistics show in all situations he’s a top 5 corner. He may be better at zone but struggles in man 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm always like a broken record, that the OLinemen are much more important than RBs. And well, the pay really shows that. Still, Cook has so often the ball in his hands, he must feel somewhat frustrated that CBs and WRs are paid so much more!

Paying out big contracts seems to be a fetish around here. We didn't have enough money to build a Super Bowl caliber roster when Benford was making 750k. We're supposed to get better when the same player is now making $19m?

If someone sees the vision of how we take a very similar team to what we had last year, and somehow get over the hump this year, I'd genuinely be interested in having it explained.

For me, it seems like the plan has to be to draft 2-3 players that play at an all-pro level on rookie deals.

And a significant bump from what they got from last year's draft class. I think that is what they will be hoping for. I am not sure I think that is super likely (of the three picks I only really liked Bishop and he was terrible as a rookie, like unbelievably bad) but I suppose it is worth remembering that of the 4 guys from the 2022 class that we are now extending (or talking about extending in Cook's case) only Benford really made any impact as a rookie. The other three came on year 2.

What I will say is I think all the deals they have done this summer (excluding Josh obviously) this one, for Benford, is the biggest slam dunk. He is very good player, could still take another step into elite territory, plays a premium position and has signed a below marlet rate extension.

That’s a really good deal for the Bills. Way under what he would have gotten on the market

Beane seems to be able to get these value extensions done and I honestly have no idea how he does it so often

So you think it’s fair for our best CB (and arguably top 10 in the league) to be getting paid less than Dane Jackson or potentially a 1st or 2nd round CB pick in the draft?  And you want another hole to fill after this season if we don’t have Benford on contract after this season?

In my mind, Beane has rebuilt our core in 12 months, readying us for another generation of competing with the best. I’m giving him a standing ovation.

Your post has me curious. What did you want done differently - would you have a plan, or just a complaint?

Seems the rest of NFL and media think the Bills have effectively kept their young core. And at reasonable cost while addressing the DL with Bosa, and the suspended players. And the draft offers strength at DT and CB while they have 3 players to draft in the first 62. So, to say the Bills will be similar doesn’t align with reality. They have reset this team while getting rid of high cost vets in the backside of their careers. How might they have approached it better ?
