It will be interesting to see the guaranteed amount. I wonder if his agent pushed signing now vs. risking the potential of additional  concussions in his renewal year and the impact that would have on free agency. The financial risk of additional concussions now resides with Bills vs. Benford.

I still think the concussion concern was overblown. Until the end of this past season he had had no reported concussions in his career. The 2nd one only happened because we rushed him through the concussion protocol to get him on the field for the AFCCG. I don't see any long term risk there. It is a bit concerning that he has missed two important playoff games in consecutive years and has had some general injury issues throughout his career but nothing so bad it scares me away from this deal.

Wow,  a bargain now, and of course even more so in the next few years, averaging less than 20 million a year for one of the best cornerbacks in the league. Very surprise and happy by the contract, that it was done and at this price.

I think he will live up to the contract and continue to sharpen his game, becoming an all pro.

Beane is kicking kiester by getting all of his up and coming young players signed to new long term deals.

Now, Cook is essential.  I cannot imagine how he is feeling now, the last high quality young player without an extension. And maybe the best of the bunch.

Beane needs to get this done, and sign the player that helped Allen and the Bills offense rise to his potential .  They cannot take all of these steps forward in the off season and then a huge step back by not securing Cook.

Mister Defense is a good name for someone pretending they are not really Cook’s Mom.

I agree that is would be nice to get him re-signed but I am also glad we are not giving in to his “social media extortion”.

He is an above average RB, but we have a solid RB2, and there are plenty of talented  RB’s available in the middle of this draft.

Not to mention that this O-line, and the threat of Josh keeping the ball, add to his success. I want him re-signed, but not sure if he merits $15 million/yr.

I would not be opposed to you adding the word "wildly" to this sentence

This is the best offseason news, I was worried he wasn’t going to be extended and at a great price.
I wouldn’t mind adding Gilmore on a 1 year 7 million dollar deal, to play opposite.  Then still drafting a corner or two.

Really good deal at the initial number, will likely be even better once "actual" numbers come out. Even better, being they have access to his medicals, good chance he's looking healthy if they were willing to do this deal now.

The fact that they didn't put out the guaranteed money makes me think it's lower than expected.  Maybe around $40m guaranteed.  Just a guess though.

With this extension, of the 2017-22 draft picks who finished their rookie deal, Buffalo has re-signed 16 versus 6 allowed to try UFA.

They really love them some of their own picks.

Funny... all these extensions and the one player stating their "worth" on social media is not extended yet. I wonder if how Cook approached it kind of ruffled some feathers.

In all fairness to Cook, the NFL's rookie salary wage have negatively impacted RB's the most.  Assuming you're not in the Barkley/Henry tier then it's really hard to get top of the market money on a second contract.  I get why he's trying to rally people around via social media to put pressure on Beane.  It's not working though and pry is counter productive.

Another one and less than 20 million a year. 4 out of 5 drafted free agents taken care of. Cook is going to be tricky but now McBeane only has one more to go.

I do hope they also consider getting McGovern signed to an extension. He’s only gonna be 28 and at a position that plays at a high level into their 30’s.
