BuffaloBillyG Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Really good deal at the initial number, will likely be even better once "actual" numbers come out. Even better, being they have access to his medicals, good chance he's looking healthy if they were willing to do this deal now. 5 1 Quote
buffblue Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Great job getting him locked in at those terms. That contract could be a steal 1 Quote
Ben Posted March 29 Posted March 29 sounds cheap. He would have been a top 5 free agent after next year, great off-season work by Beane 1 1 Quote
Toledo Bill Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Funny... all these extensions and the one player stating their "worth" on social media is not extended yet. I wonder if how Cook approached it kind of ruffled some feathers. 3 1 1 1 Quote

oldmanfan Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Must be fully recovered from the concussions. Glad he’s locked down. 1 Quote

Mister Defense Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) Wow, a bargain now and of course even more so in the next few years, averaging less than 20 million a year for one of the best cornerbacks in the league. Very surprised and happy by the contract, that it was done and at this price. I think Benford will live up to the contract and continue to sharpen his game, becoming an all pro. Beane is kicking kiester by getting all of his up and coming young players signed to new long term deals. Now, Cook is essential. I cannot imagine how he is feeling now, the last high quality young player without an extension. And maybe the best of the bunch. Beane needs to get this done, and sign the player that helped Allen and the Bills' offense rise to their potential . They cannot take all of these steps forward in the off season and then a huge step back by not securing Cook. A big miss on Elam, but Benford makes up for that in a major way. transplantbillsfan Posted March 29 Posted March 29 ANOTHER team friendly below market deal! $19m AAV for a top 5-7 NFL Corner in this market is insane! And when you factor in the last season of his rookie deal it's even lower. Beane is having an incredible offseason! Quote
HappyDays Posted March 29 Posted March 29 This was my priority extension of the offseason, and at under $20M AAV it's even better than I expected. He's only 24 years old so plenty of room to grow still too. 8 Quote
ColoradoBills Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Congratulations to Christian and Brandon for doing a great deal for both parties. Looks like all the hand wringing about this contract was premature. With all these extensions coming in at or less than most "market values" it does put some pressure on Cook. James and his agent should sign for market and guarantee Cook's financial future and not worry about ego. Does make you wonder about the draft and what Beane will do if Cook doesn't sign before. 1 Quote

I’d be surprised if he doesnt wear a ‘kazoo’ helmet pad for the rest of his career. 1 Quote

JMM Posted March 29 Posted March 29 They must feel very confident regarding his health concerns with the concussions. 🤞🤞 Quote
LittleSammy Posted March 29 Posted March 29 It will be interesting to see the guaranteed amount. I wonder if his agent pushed signing now vs. risking the potential of additional concussions in his renewal year and the impact that would have on free agency. The financial risk of additional concussions now resides with Bills vs. Benford. Quote
