But what if it's a really cold game and your nose just won't stop running? Is actually wiping your nose still okay?

This stinks of grandma on FB thinks the OK symbol means 'white power'.  I mean IDC, i wont miss it, but wouldnt be the NFL if they didnt over-react to something silly

No this is actually a hoodrat symbol that someone is no good.

Wiping the chest means clean. An opposite shoulder tap can mean on alert, ready to draw, etc. depending on situation/location.

You're gonna be on Metro next week with some guy having a cold then start to panic you're in a gang war. Don't lie.

Thank you Rodger, this is the biggest worry I had going into the coming year, childish gang signs ... Bye the way, have they figured out what a catch is yet ? ... Have you figured out what to do with awful officiating ? ... Yeah I thought not.

It's amazing that so many still get this wrong.  Goodell appoints the members of the Competition ("Rules") committee.  He does not write the rules.

Why isn't everyone instead blaming the guys who came up with this (including Sean McD) and those who passed it (at least 24 owners)?

Go yell at Sean and Terry.  This is their doing.

Goodell is clearly underpaid for the heat he takes for the owners.

Had to google it, but this is what it says:

The nose wipe is a gang sign associated with the Bloods, indicating someone is untrustworthy.

I don't understand the symbology. Like you I thought it had to do with fingering and then sniffing it.

Either way I don't think it makes sense as an NFL celebration.

As far as the rule change goes I don't care. Have any of our guys ever used it as a celebration?

it’s the same thing.  You don’t trust it, so you’re vetting what you’re about to get with.

I mean, just act like you've been there before and will be again when it comes to celebrations. That said, if they ban snow angels I am bringing a pitchfork and a blow torch.

The NFL has classified the "nose wipe" celebration, a gesture where a player mimics wiping their nose, as a "violent gesture".

This will now be considered a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

I always thought this gesture meant something to do with.....ummm....well.......something gross related to male/female private interactions.

Apparently, it's got something to do with gangs.

What say you?

I’m not advocating for it. I’m arguing against the leagues solution. The penalty should be levied against the PLAYER, not against the TEAM.

Disagree here. These players can pay fines like flipping out a fiver for you or me. Need to make it costly on the field - it’s the only way to get the team/ coaches attention. That’s what really counts here , not some fine that no one cares about.
