The Wiz Posted Thursday at 10:08 PM Posted Thursday at 10:08 PM (edited) I don't even think I've ever seen this gesture, let alone thought anything about someone wiping their nose (though the thought is disgusting). Give it time.... Edited Thursday at 10:17 PM by The Wiz 2 1 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted Thursday at 10:12 PM Posted Thursday at 10:12 PM Is the implication that there are some NFL players who are active members of a street gang? Really? Quote

I never heard of the reference, not does probably anyone else who is over 45. It’s a bit silly, but whatever. 47 here. I always figured they were smelling their fingers as if to say…..they just had some fun with the opposing team. Gross but….yep lol. 1 Quote

Really? Where's @Roger Goodell when you need him. I'll have to be the parody "Goger Roodell" for this one: "The NFL does not condone the use of slanderous gestures that could be interpreted by younger generations while watching NFL games on NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, Amazon or Netflix. If they are caught doing other acts of violence and/or questionable judgement while in public, we will give the full support of the local authority to carry out their investigations while letting the player resume their careers knowing full well, it will all be swept under the rug at some point" Edited Thursday at 10:25 PM by The Wiz 1 Quote

Augie Posted Thursday at 10:34 PM Posted Thursday at 10:34 PM I would like to thank Roger Goodell for introducing me to all this stuff. Gee, now I feel more worldly. 1 1 2 Quote

Sounds to me like they need to change the end zone sign to “no room for gang affiliations”. Quote

It advocates for a specific gang and gives them "street credit" meaning other kids are more willing to join into a specific gang because a player on their favorite team did a gang sign and that means they can be in the NFL and become a millionaire. It's stupid, but that's the logic from both sides. Quote

Poleshifter Posted Thursday at 11:34 PM Posted Thursday at 11:34 PM I hate that gesture. I think it is direct replacement for the old throat slash gesture. I’m glad to see a stupid new rule to outlaw it. Quote

Welcome to America — where white men in their 60s have been very concerned about the actions of men of color since, well, forever. Edited Thursday at 11:37 PM by MPL 1 3 2 Quote

Is actually wiping your nose still okay? Just don’t wipe immediately after you make a catch or a tackle. Ask the referee for a Kleenex. Quote

I think the Eagles cut DeSean Jackson years ago because they thought if he wasn't an active member of a gang, he had way, way too many connections to one. Quote
oldmanfan Posted Friday at 12:33 AM Posted Friday at 12:33 AM I know I’m the get off my lawn, old man type but I wish they’d just eliminate all of these staged celebrations. Spontaneous is one thing but these elaborate staged ones aren’t necessary. You want to show somebody up just hand the ball to the ref like it’s no big deal to score against your opponent 1 Quote

I coach youth sports and have literally seen kids make this exact gesture when scoring a touchdown. There is no room for it in sports. Quote
