The Firebaugh Kid Posted Thursday at 07:55 PM Posted Thursday at 07:55 PM The NFL has classified the "nose wipe" celebration, a gesture where a player mimics wiping their nose, as a "violent gesture". This will now be considered a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. I always thought this gesture meant something to do with.....ummm....well.......something gross related to male/female private interactions. Apparently, it's got something to do with gangs. What say you? 1 Quote

DabillsDaBillsDaBills Posted Thursday at 08:05 PM Posted Thursday at 08:05 PM Had to google it, but this is what it says: The nose wipe is a gang sign associated with the Bloods, indicating someone is untrustworthy. I don't understand the symbology. Like you I thought it had to do with fingering and then sniffing it. Either way I don't think it makes sense as an NFL celebration. As far as the rule change goes I don't care. Have any of our guys ever used it as a celebration? 1 1 Quote
MJS Posted Thursday at 08:08 PM Posted Thursday at 08:08 PM Apparently it is something Deshaun Watson used to do, so that's enough for me to be against it. 3 1 13 2 Quote
MPL Posted Thursday at 08:36 PM Posted Thursday at 08:36 PM But what if it's a really cold game and your nose just won't stop running? Is actually wiping your nose still okay? 2 5 1 Quote
boyst Posted Thursday at 08:44 PM Posted Thursday at 08:44 PM Amazing how underworld activities and the knowledge of such cultures is so prevalent in the NFL. 3 3 Quote
US Egg Posted Thursday at 08:44 PM Posted Thursday at 08:44 PM I think it’s also the gang sign for the Van Buren Boys. 2 11 2 Quote

SoonerBillsFan Posted Thursday at 08:51 PM Posted Thursday at 08:51 PM Can we just skip to it being flag football already? This slow death by a 1000 cuts is killing me. 1 1 3 1 Quote

What say you? FWIW, I heard on the radio it’s a sexual gesture as well. I never heard of the reference, not does probably anyone else who is over 45. It’s a bit silly, but whatever. Quote

This is far from the in play nonsense where players point, taunt, etc. this is after the play buffoonery. It's silly and bad sportsmanship. What you do should speak so loudly that no one can hear what is said. And the scoreboard should be the answer to any questions or comments. 2 Quote

frostbitmic Posted Thursday at 10:02 PM Posted Thursday at 10:02 PM Thank you Rodger, this is the biggest worry I had going into the coming year, childish gang signs ... Bye the way, have they figured out what a catch is yet ? ... Have you figured out what to do with awful officiating ? ... Yeah I thought not. 1 Quote
