id rather a day 2 pick…

Coleman is a complete question mark

palmer is a 2 year deal and major question mark

is be shocked if Samuel is here in 2026

we don’t need lightning in a bottle or a 1 year rental - we need a solid prospect that inn12 months will be expected to be a near full time starter on a cost controlled deal for several years. A day 2 guy is great short term depth and long term real potential

I would like to see 2 DT and a CB the first 3 picks.  I have read its a great DT class and thin on WRs.  But t the end of the day I hope they dont  overdraft regardless of position.

There is absolutely no need for Cooper with Palmer on the roster.

Despite the drop off last year, I would consider signing Douglas on a cheap 1-yr deal if we don't add a starter in the draft.

This, I'm thinking, is how it'll turn out.

They'll likely consider Douglas but it'll depend. Cooper'll likely be too expensive.

I think you're overcalculating the question marks. Coleman is a minor question mark. He looked really good for a rookie till the injury. Still got a lot to prove.

Palmer is like to be solid in the role they are projecting for him, which will not be being a #1. He'll probably be a #2, whether top middle or bottom of that cohort.

ultimately next offseason we likely have

Shakir

Coleman

palmer perhaps as a 1 year guy

i dint think we’d be thrilled with that meaning either a vet (pricy) or high pick. I think getting a mid pick this year is a good investment to reduce the capital spent next year. Even in an optimistic scenario that guy would be an asset but if anyone isn’t at their ceiling a starting player will be needed

They may need Douglas depending on the draft. I am hard-pressed to believe McDermott starts a rookie CB unless it is an exceptional talent. Douglas was pretty good prior to last year and had knee and back injuries last year. Steph Gilmore might make sense too. He had good numbers for Minny last year.

NFL teams are being careful about spending cap dollars on aging players.  I haven't checked personally, but read that a fairly large number of free agents with names we might recognize are still waiting.  Some will get signed, but asking prices are going to have to drop.  Maybe during the season, injuries across the league will give opportunities to some of them.

Don't really understand the buzz about Cooper being "done". He might not be getting the separation he once did, but he was making catches that nobody else in our WR room could. Had a couple big time catches in the first KC game too.

I was told we didn't even make an offer to Douglas and that there is zero interest in a reunion. What I haven't heard but what I suspect is that Douglas has way over-valued himself and he needs to be more realistic about his tape last year if he wants to sign anywhere.

Cooper I haven't heard anything. I know Jeremy Fowler reported a while back that neither side was opposed to a reunion if it made sense. At this point I think he'll wait until after the draft and sign with a team desperate for a WR. Maybe that will be us depending on how the board falls.

The rumor last offseason was that they were trying extend Rasul to take his cap hit down right?

Probably couldn’t reach a number that he liked. Honestly may have been a blessing in disguise based on his play last year.

Does anyone remember how bad our WR core was before the presence of Cooper? Sorry but Jordan Palmer will not bring that same mojo. To be honest he could just be another WR that showed some potential but will fail in Buffalo. Beane has brought in a few. Coop, though he wasn’t great, possibly because of injury, he helped this team. Just being on the field at times took some pressure off some guys. Remember Hollins, everyone loves him now and he finished the season strong, before Coop arrived Hollins was flat out terrible.

Cooper wasn't lighting the world on fire in the regular season but he had a couple of decent games with us.  What I had a problem with was that he completely disappeared in the playoffs.

Otherwise Beane may focus on CB rather than DT

if we don’t draft a WR and Cooper is still out there then sign him for a year

Douglas was horrendous last season. Like @BearNorth just said, he allowed a 123.7 passer rating last season. And now he's a year older at 31 to start the season. It's possible he even takes a step back from that.

Your idea to load up on DL and neglect CB with Day 3 Pick(s) and/or Douglas is flawed logic. Lineman won't have the time to get to the QB because they'll just get the ball out quickly to whomever is opposite Benford, or beyond that with our average (or worse if Bishop can't take a step up) Safeties.

I am still confounded  by the Douglas performance drop from 23 to 24.  He was fantastic in 23 coming over from GB, and didn't have it at all in 24.  I expect something else going on none of us know......

I'm sure most teams recognize that both are on the wrong side of 30 with declining skills, and are probably looking at those two as "break glass in case of emergency" players to sign mid-season if injuries become a problem for them. Any team trying to sign them now is probably offering well below what they're looking for, so they might as well wait until some team becomes desperate due to injuries.

You talking about Diggs? 😇

I'm cool with that. Look, the Bills are not going to be able to fill every need, they're just not. So at least get the most talented at some of those positions. Beane tends to try and get them all and ends up with next tier JAGs most of the time because of it.

Agreed.  And unlike Diggs, Cooper has no issue with being WR3 or whatever.  Now, it remains to be seen what $$ he is seeking.
