JMM Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Is anyone else surprised that not only have they not signed with a team, but not even gotten a visit?? What do you think the odds we sign one or both of them at a bargain rate? I would think we are waiting to see how the draft goes first before we make a decision. Although we are soo thin at cb, that even if we draft one high, Douglas would be still be good depth at the right price. 8 1 Quote

SydneyBillsFan Posted March 26 Posted March 26 There is absolutely no need for Cooper with Palmer on the roster. Despite the drop off last year, I would consider signing Douglas on a cheap 1-yr deal if we don't add a starter in the draft. 4 2 1 1 Quote
bills_fan Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I would certainly take Douglas back on a one year deal. Extra depth at CB is never a bad thing. 11 Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Douglas was pretty rough most of last year, the market is thin for north of 30 CBs who didn't have elite athleticism to start with. Cooper sounds pretty washed up as well. 2 1 Quote

GunnerBill Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Not really. Douglas is totally toasted. He was brutal last season. All those worrying about Dane Jackson starting for us in 2025.... and they are right to btw.... might want to reflect that it could even be an upgrade on 2024 Douglas. He sucked. Cooper, maybe he is done too, maybe it was the wrist... but sounds like Bills staffers have been telling people he is done. Maybe in the hope that if he is still sitting out there post draft we would bring him back on a cheap deal? Or maybe because they really do think he is done. 1 2 Quote
Kornfed Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I’d take both back if they’re willing to play for about 30% what they were hoping to get on the open market. Kinda tough to calculate given the fact that there doesn’t appear to be any market. 1 Quote
juno999 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I believe they are both done. Beane will likely draft a CB fairly high and hopefully get a veteran corner somehow to provide some insurance in case the rookie CB isn’t quite ready to start. I think Beane also drafts a WR but might not until day 3. Quote
No_Matter_What Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I saw them both as our potential path to compensatory pick and they failed me It is crazy that our lone CFA lost atm is Hollins. 2 Quote
Aussie Joe Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I’m waiting until after the draft …I suspect that they draft a WR in rounds 2-4 …so that probably closes the door on Cooper.. they might take two CBs in the draft this year … but say they only take one then maybe Douglas is still some hope … I don’t think he is playing on a Brandon Beane $2mil special if that’s the expectation…. Maybe $3m might get it done Quote
Mike in Horseheads Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Was Douglas injured last year? I only ask because he sure did fall off a cliff on production. 1 Quote
Charles Romes Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I really thought someone would give Cooper the bag and that he’d be making a lot more than Diggs coming off the ACL. His production for the Bills was limited but important, and enough to force defenses to cover the boundaries. We do not beat the chiefs in the regular season without Cooper. Maybe he’s decided to call it a career unless someone makes an offer he can’t refuse. Problem is no one has any money at this stage. I’m sure he’s been offered at least 15 given what an injured Diggs got. 4 Quote
harmonkillebrew Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I guess both showed pretty poorly on last year's tape. Which I would agree with. I'm sure Douglas is asking too much. Not sure about Amari. Maybe he's hoping Bills will re-sign him. Or maybe he's retiring Quote

It's fair to argue that we shouldn't bring back Cooper. But the idea that there is no need for him doesn't add up. We do need to replace an Outside WR and that's what Cooper is. I assume the replacement will come in the Draft rather than Cooper or another FA. But we do have a hole for Cooper's (or Hollins' depending on how they view Palmer) replacement on the roster. T master Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) I wouldn't mind seeing Coop come back but it would have to be at a nice contract he's got the hands & I think could be a good plus to the WR room . Douglas would be a good get too as a depth player while they get some younger players up and running in the system but I think we won't seee either get talked to until the draft is final ... MJS Posted March 26 Posted March 26 They probably just want to wait to sign with a needy team post draft or in camp. Teams will come knocking when they realize they need more at their respective positions. 2 Quote
Rubes Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I'm sure most teams recognize that both are on the wrong side of 30 with declining skills, and are probably looking at those two as "break glass in case of emergency" players to sign mid-season if injuries become a problem for them. Any team trying to sign them now is probably offering well below what they're looking for, so they might as well wait until some team becomes desperate due to injuries. Quote
