Hope he sucks so NYG can pick first and take Arch Manning in the draft. Out of conference.

I'd rather tank for Manning.

Lot of ppl been saying that here on nyc sports radio. The hosts don't agree, 1 made a great point and said if his name was Arch Jones, would there still be this talk? Arch has proved literally nothing yet, he might be phenomenal but I agree if he wasn't a Manning,  he wouldn't have close to this hype

They have been a mess since Coughlin left but since 1986, they have 5 Super Bowl appearances with 4 wins.

Yes, but they have been the worst run franchise in the league since about 2014.

Are you sure about that.

I mean technically they did. But it was at the owner's instruction.

I don't think they are drafting a QB at #3 now. They have signed Jameis and Russ. Would be odd to sign two bottom end starting level vets if you plan to draft a guy. That normally signals a "we are gonna let these guys compete".

Haslam, Johnson and Mara/Tisch should be made to sell their teams.  Haslam and Johnson have always been a joke.  The other two are for years now as well.  Throw in Rooney at this point too.

Yea I think the Giants have been worse. I know the Jets have the longest playoff drought but they didn't draft a running back number 2 in a strong Quarterback draft only to then come back in a weak QB draft the next year and take a 3rd round talent 6th overall.

The Jets results might have been worse (although total W-L is close I think) and the Browns (Watson) have made the single worst decision but nobody has consistently screwed the process as bad as the Giants over the past decade.

They both look totally out of their depth but I think ownership is a contributing factor. They've should have been rebuilding but were stuck trying to be competitive to save their jobs.

ownership didn't come up with the idea of resigning him for that ridiculous contract.  Sure they were on board with it.

Faced with the option of moving up to get a QB or picking a weapon like Nabers, MAra said this:

"I was nervous about giving up too much to go and get a quarterback, but I was prepared to let (Schoen) do that if that's what they wanted to do," Mara said. "We made a decision to stay with Daniel and get a weapon for him, and I think that's going to work out."

As it turns out, they did take a GREAT RB and only one of the QBs went on to be anything special and he was an absolute boom or bust prospect.  I actually don’t hold the Barkley pick against them in retrospect.  Jones? Yeah WTF!?

1 years, $20m - $10m guaranteed

Man that is a quick fall from grace for Mr Unlimited. Hope he does well though!

Yeah, a fall from grace for a star NFL QB

But... let's put this in perspective. It's more than most lottery winners make, and he gets to play NFL football.

I mean he's basically Tyrod Taylor 2018

I don't think either player's at their peak from an elusiveness standpoint, which was a big part of both wilson and tyrod's games.  Other than that they are very similar players.  High low type reads, they don't throw people open, not rhythm passers, solid deep ball (wilsons is better).  It's a boring safe QB who has enough athleticism to hurt you if you break contain, but if you're smart they'll probably sack themselves a couple times a game.

How are Schoen and Daboll still employed?

2 stooges looking for the third.

imagine being Giants fan since those 2 swam to shore in jersey.

Tin foil hat?

There is maybe a non-zero chance that if they get fired after the season, Deion becomes the next HC of the Giants.

I couldn't find anything to support that.

Albert Breer I think is the only national reporter who has alluded to it. But there are lots of rumours behind the scenes and it was John Mara who the day after the playoff exit the first year with Daboll, with Jones and impending free agent declared to the media "we have our franchise Quarterback" and then on the day the deal was signed he was the one ringing Jones's camp directly.

I am not arguing that he was overruling Schoen and Daboll who were desperate not to sign him. But I think this was more than just an owner saying "I support bringing Daniel back" I think he was actively campaigning in the organisation for it. Their relationship has been described as father - son like.

Also supporting this is that when the Giants were doing their new FO/HC search, fixing/saving Daniel Jones was part of the deal. Mara was on record that he had not given up on Jones in 2022.

He's admitted as much there.  As he was agreeable to moving up the draft to get his replacement.  There's no chance that Shoen and Daboll were not 100% on board with that resigning Jones.  Also if they wanted him out I think there's no chance a guy like Mara would force their hand. Daboll feels he create Josh Allen, he could recreate Danny Dimes.

Turns out that Daboll was a figment of Josh Allen's greatness and Schoen was fancying himself as equi-Beane.  To zeros.
