Anyone else do endless Mock Drafts?

It's weird, mock drafts (outside of FF) have never done anything for me, in fact the draft as a whole is kind of boring to me save for those instances where the Bills pick in the top 10 (and lets not hope for that anytime soon).  The draft is such a crap shoot I am more a wait and see how it plays out kind of guy.  Don't get me wrong,  I read the grades and watcht he Bills first couple of picks,  but the draft does not get me all charged up like others.

 

Oddly enough schedule release day does, I scan through peoples proposed schedules and am all over the rumours the day of and before that start to leak out.   I love schedule release day because I can start planning and having dates locked to certain games makes the upcomming season seem so much closer for me.

I remember when my kids were little, my son (who was about 5 at the time) sat down next to me while I was watching the draft and asked me "dad, when do these guys stop talking and the game starts?" In explaining to him what I was watching, I realized that it was a waste of a nice spring weekend day. I still have watched every minute of every NFL draft since then, but at least I'm self-aware that I have a problem.

I keep drafting a QB in round 5 or 6 to hopefully unseat Trubisky with a cheaper, longer term backup. Someone you could maybe trade after year 3 if he shows signs in preseason and mop up duty.

I have done a couple and by doing a couple of trade backs I ended with Walter Nolan, Kenneth Grant, and Joshua Farmer along with a WR, CV and Safety all in the first three rounds. Is it possible to that there are that many good DT in this draft?

First off. In the spirit of using this site.. These are the things I DID NOT do.

 

--- Trades... I did the math on many of these accepted trades.. and there is no way in heck you will find fair trades using this format.

--- Picks below value of your pick #.  So i am pick # 30.. i will not grab anything below a 30.. as some of these guys that are falling to us gets nuts. 

--- I will not post any cons.. any player I pick... can get shot down as quickly as getting loved when mock drafting... Instead I will defend it then post why he may be the guy we need.

 

THUS.. These picks will feel like reaches.. all of them. I would rather get a replay saying "lol those are huge reaches" then " LOL" "NO WAY HE IS THERE!" 

Fair enough? moving on to my picks. with draft profile links and why I liked that player that I saw on the board for the pick.. Yes? Clear? Perfect.. moving on ha ha ha.

Fit- 2 things you need to know.. A. He never exploded till his senior year B. 17 sacks

after that its about the position of need for this team.. and the fact that he has a very high ceiling but sadly a big drop-off.  

 

--- My defense on picking.. this dude.. This pick is going to have the ELAM fear to it.. and yep. Its going to suck lol..  everyone is going to say.. We stayed up to get this guy? well.. Better than staying up and finding out we traded against the one team we should never trade with... KC... enough said yea?

 

Reason I will feel like this may work.

1. HE HAS the potential to be a 10 + sack guy a year. (pressures are great but this defensive line needs to get home.. way more often)

2. 6'2 248.. DO NOT OBSESS OVER THIS. instead lets focus on all of what he does give yea lol?

---the 40 dash and 3 cone.. OMG SO GOOD.. this combo is really good 40 time 4.62, cone 6.94

---SHUT/VERT/BROAD are all solid numbers.

--- He needs to work a bit on his hand work.. not to much.. but he needs to work on it..

----Bench. In my personal opinion your arm strength can improve a ton over a year in the NFL. 

 

What does this mean? Yep.. the good old McD... you wont see him play much till like week 10... so his stats coming out year 1 are going to feel blah... But Like JA.. THIS DUDE... he going to pass the eye test.. (please god.. lets get this one right **talking to himself)

--- My Defense on picking Deon... 1. for this board.. this is a horrible place to pick for what we need on This team...

--- We don't need a.. WR, TE or QB in this round so.. this is going to be that pick that looks like a horrible reach.. 

--- if we do not get lucky on someone slipping to us then a 1-tech DT seems PERFECT to complement Oliver... OUT OF THE GATE.. yes.. this guy would see more snaps early weeks this season do to pure need and things he can do for you...

 

Reason I think this may work.

--I mean come on guys... this is easy..  we need a guy this is big enough guy to take out 2 players.. DaQuanJones is 33 this year and its time we draft someone that I feel we can improve do to age alone. and how much Jones has slowed down.

 

--- Bench.. ignore it.. he had a really rough day and his game play shows he is way stronger than his bench number For draft Buss I think his real bench is around the yellow area and that WILL improve before he hits the field. he as put it on record that he is working on that now and will continue to post draft. we have the place to do it yea?

--- Hight Weight combo... its perfect for what a team wants on a day 2 1-Tech DT.

---- Hands/Arms/Span great for the position.

----- Jones 40 time WAS a 5.35 and Walker is a 5:38.. think Jones is running a 5.35 right now? nah LOL so ignore this number being in the red lol...

------- he has a 25 c VERT but all his other tools mentioned above? you know? hands? arms? Span? make up for it. 

 

 

I apologize guys for not doing more than 2 rounds, I just like explaining my mocks instead of posting names/stats/ and so on while the reader can click on links to view to picks to come to their own conclusions.  Cheers.  My next mock where ever i post it.. with be a 4 round.. then every round. then done. again. cheers.
