Yeah, I think WR2 is kinda his ceiling. I would hope for more from where he was sele, but it is what it is. Rooting for the kid for sure

I think his ceiling is a lower end WR1, but even if he's a high quality WR2 I think for pick 33 that's not a bad return on investment. Pick 33 for a WR is not the same as drafting a WR in the top 10ish range where you need that type of player to be dynamic WR1. I think if you get a WR at pick 33 that's constantly in the 800-1000 yard range on 55-75 receptions with 6-9 TD's on solid efficiency with pick 33 that's good value for the pick.

Honesty, haven't had much time to look into this draft so far. I gave a few guys I like.

So far if I had to select guys to avoid, it would be anyone from Colorado, Shemar Stewart or Nick Emmanwori

Shemar scares me too.  Similar to how I felt about Josh Allen coming out of college.  I didn’t feel like we could be so lucky to have the kid reach his true potential.  I didn’t feel like our franchise would be able to develop him in that way.

Maybe too big of a risk at this point?  Or do we have to roll the dice on the possibly elite talent?

I think another team will have already rolled the dice so we likely wont see what Beane would’ve done.  His past has shown that he would roll the dice and bet on traits.  The past has also shown he’s likely to draft for need and would draft the best available CB or DT

Fair.

My only rebuttal for that is that would be what I would expect in most seasons. In a draft as stacked at WR as he came out of, a WR taken at pick 33 I would expect to have a slightly higher ceiling. That's just my opinion however.

The wrong WR was chosen though . Ladd was right there for the taking and we passed on him

Keon had in 13 games 556 yards on a 19.2 ypc with 4 TD's at age 21. Had he stayed healthy he was on pace for roughly 770 yards and 5-6 TD's. Even just taking his stats at face value that's still a solid rookie season for a WR.

And yet his tape showed all the same struggles to separate that he showed at Florida State. He was effective when the Bills got the ball in his hands inside the numbers on manufactured touches. That is who he is.

I hope so. But I fear he is who he is.

He could be very effective niche player by being targeted in the redzone to come down with contested balls, but that is just too crazy an idea for a 6'5" WR with Division I college basketball experience.

Yea. He can be a niche player (although his contested catch abilities are not actually that brilliant and weren't in college either). You want more than a niche player with the 33rd pick of the draft.

Who is this years players that you think we should avoid?  I was thinking of keon the same way last year as well.

Who was it in 2018? 🤔

Keon was effective down the field, down the sidelines, and in contested catch situations. He had some manufactured touches but go back and watch his highlights it wasn't heavy on manufactured situations. That's not to say that there weren't some struggles and concerns too. But the kind of success that he had wasn't what you described.

Yea. We are gonna have to seriously disagree there. He really wasn't. He had some plays, sure, but he was overwhelming not effective downfield on the boundary. He played to contact, struggled to separate and did not actually have great contested catch numbers.

My big issue with Coleman is that his current skill set basically fills the same niche as Kincaid — big slot. That’s on Beane, not the kid… Coleman certainly has room for improvement though, so 🤞🏼 that he maximizes his potential while on a rookie contract. I was however pleasantly surprised at how capable Coleman was as a blocker at times. If he can become a real dog there maybe that’ll help him at the top of his stems. Wait and see I guess.

The Coleman pick still perplexes me given Josh excelled targeting Diggs and Beasley in their prime.  Both smaller and shiftier WR's who were great route runners and separators.  Beane even said in the past that he learned Josh does better targeting that type compared to the big bodied contested catch WR's.  Worthy, Mitchell, and McConkey seemed like much better choices based off Beane's own words.

It’s my impression that Keon has not been exposed to a lot of everything. Coats, snacks, fish, plays…hurt wrist.

We have to calm on Keon. The dude has less than 5 months playing pro football.

(that said, Josh has done well with the shifty style WRs Beasley Diggs Shakir )

I don't have the words to tell you how much I hope and pray this comes true!

I dreamt last night the Bills won the Super Bowl. (Bizarrely, I was one of the players and was told to present Josh his award in the post-game ceremony privately since he didn't win gold, but only silver, but the guy handing out rewards wouldn't let me get Josh's silver medal.) So I think we'll be ok no matter what; a Super Bowl win is on the horizon

EDIT: The only bad part was the game was in a dome, which won't occur until 2027-28 in New Orleans (although in 2026-27 it's at SoFi, so it might have been there).

Give him another year. It took Eric Moulds three years to break out. Keon is going to stun us all, for the better!

People forget that guys like Demaryius Thomas, Jordy Nelson, Roddy White, Emmanuel Sanders, and even a Hall of Famer like Tim Brown didn’t come into the league and produce right away. Development takes time. Hopefully, we see a monumental jump. As many have pointed out, he seems like a great young man.
