Hi:

This was not the first game in Rich Stadium.  It was the first regular season game.

The first game was vs Washington.  On the opening kickoff, Herb Mulkey ran back the kickoff d=for a touchdown.

I was there.

Yes, I am old.

One great memory with my dad was going into the stadium and picking seats. He got clubs up against the suites and under cover about the 20. Awesome!

I keep meaning to go back and visit those seats, like I do the houses we used to live in back in those days. I lived in 9 houses before I left for college at 17. Technically 8 since one of them was twice. Barring hardship, that has to be close to a record.

That’s Pat Summerall narrating.  I forget the other guy but he and Summerall were both former players.  IIRC the other guy played for the Eagles.

Tom Brookshier me thinks - this game was the first regular season game at Rich Stadium  - Earl Edwards was an absolute beast that day constant pressure amongst the best I have ever seen from a Bills player not named Bruce Smith...sold-out 72 hours in advance (stupid NFL blackout rule) so we could all watch from home...may have been the first ever Bills home game televised in the 716 ???

Yes, me too. I was sitting in the end-zone behind the Bills. It was like the parting of the red sea, a wide open highway for that return.  I don’t recall that the guy was even touched. Remember, they gave out a souvenir coin with the stadium on it.

It wasn't called Rich Stadium yet because Ralph had a naming dispute with Erie County.  He wanted to call it The Home of the Buffalo Bills.
