Yeah there's been no reports that we've met with any day 1 or 2 WR prospects. Bond is the one exception, but also now I wonder if he is a day 2 prospect? That rumor about his major character concerns keeps popping up, and presumably every team would have the same info. Is it possible he'll plummet down the board and the reason we're meeting with him a lot is because we think he'll still be around in round 4 or even 5?

We've met with Golden at combine.

I know there's a contingent of people who say the Bills should spend all their most premium picks on defense, and the offense is just fine. Beane may well be one of those people.

But me? I'd be happy to see them spend their first pick on a receiver if one was there that warranted the pick. The DL class is deep enough that I think they could snag guys in rounds 2 and 4 that could help them immediately, with the remaining 2nd and another mid-to-late pick being spent on corners.

Count me among those who still think the Bills offense is a legitimate WR away from operating at maximum capacity (and who doesn't think that HOPING Joshua Palmer can be that guy is an adequate strategy).

I don't think Golden will even be on the board at 30 -- current betting odds have him being drafted ahead of Tet McMillan -- but if he is, that's a pick I'd be happy with.

Swinson would be a great pick at 56 or 62. Had him in my mock but his upside as a player is large but there is a lower floor too but people want Beane to swing for the fences

Completely agree. While trading significant assets to do it I'd say no, but if someone like Golden is within striking distance, I think you do it. You always keep the cubbard stoked with a QB like Allen.

yes, is doesn’t matter that we spent our last two first round picks on pass catchers. We should just about always draft a player by the end of day 2 to catch passes from Josh until we are stocked like the Eagles or Bucs WR rooms. Chiefs drafted a WR in the first and two in the second the last three years.

Ditto for either 2nd rounder. It’s unrealistic to expect Allen to improve on an MVP season. It’s also unrealistic to expect such a low turnover rate again. So just to match last year’s offense, we need to improve. So far, I’d say our personnel is about a wash, maybe a slight downgrade depending on how bullish/bearish you are on Palmer. I’d be very happy to add another WR who can contribute, especially if he can play X and/or take the top off a defense and/or get open against press man coverage.

What I like is there are a few WR that can help us in the draft.

Outstanding player, I can see him coming in to compete for a job by year 2.  And... I like him because I keep taking him in my mock drafts lol

I thought we were set at safety...

Rapp

Forrest

Bishop

Hamlin

is not an inspiring group....unless Forrest stays healthy and can play like he did a few years ago

I'd personally prefer to wait until Round 4 for Safety.....but it depends whose available of course

I don't think they are a legit WR away as much as I think they are a legit field stretcher away... I think in almost every other area of receiving between Coleman, Shakir, Palmer, and Samuel they have it covered. But that one guy they can line up in certain packages that Defenses HAVE to respect deep... That is sorely missing. And that makes it way tougher on Shakir, Kincaid, and Knox as well... Plus...you have to figure a guy that can flat out fly is going to get a couple from Josh every year... B-)

He projects to more free safety correct? If so, the future would be bright with him at free and Bishop strong imo

Fair enough.

To me, that guy you're describing is probably Joshua Palmer.

I could be mistaken, but I think he's pretty elite in terms of getting open deep and catching the ball.

What I want is a gotta have it, game's on the line, convert this 3rd down or we go home, playmaking do-it-all receiver. Maybe Shakir is that guy. Maybe Coleman can become that guy. But as far as I can tell, we don't have that guy on the roster right now.

Maybe my thinking is just out of date and old fashioned, and maybe we're going full-on with the "everybody eats", diverse-skillsets approach now. But I can't help but continue to pine for a legitimate WR1, and right now, I don't see one on the roster.

I share that old-fashioned preference. Who in the draft is likely to be that player? McMillan won't fall within range. Maybe Golden with a trade up. I just doubt Beane is willing to pay the price to get there.
