Even though Thornton is going to come in raw with a lot to learn, he's still light years ahead of a lot of these day 3 guys because there is a physical element to his game, and he knows how to set up CB's who overplay his speed. And that speed is VERY real on the football field. I think it's always important to remember we have 17... And 17 could make a guy like Thornton famous while more than half the other QB's in the league will have him buried on the Practice Squad...

that's of course assuming our staff actually puts him on the field and uses him

Joe Marino broke down the WRs with vertical traits on Locked On Bills today. It's a great listen, I highly recommend it.

Joe said he has heard the rumors on Isaiah Bond. He didn't specify the details but he said it is a "major character concern" and that if the rumors are true he doesn't think Bond would be on our board. So there's been enough independent reporting on this that I think we can safely remove him as an option for us.

The main trait I look for when studying corners is do they get their head turned around when the ball is in the air? Elam was terrible at that in college and it continued into the NFL.

Revel has shown a bit of that as well so I’m mildly concerned here with him

Agree on Thornton for sure.   6'5  200  runs a 4.3  and is immediate vertical speed threat in this offense

Ive been pounding the drum for Thornton all off season, I really think he has untapped potential to be more than just a vertical threat...but even as a vertical threat only, he fits what we really need.  And through that, I have been scouring everywhere to see any mention of any kind that would link him to the Bills.  Sadly, to this day, have not found a single shred to suggest our interest yet.

And that concerns me as its not in Beane's DNA to draft guys they haven't met with.  Now that doesn't mean they haven't met with him in some capacity, but I have just not been able to find any info on any kind of meeting, zoom, etc with Thornton which makes me feel the odds of him becoming a Bill are lower than I am hoping for.

I forget what National Pod it was that I was listening to the other day... But Dolac's name came up and one of the Scouting guys says... and I am paraphrasing a little... He's a Buffalo LB.... and the other guy says...yes...the LB from UB.... To which the the 1st guy replies... No I mean he's the prototype Buffalo Bills LB...and that's a good thing...He's a fit for their scheme and he just happens to have played at UB which is crazy. Just thought I'd share that. B-)

So much smoke around DB in round 1 for us I have it written in pencil and almost pen atm

I like the player. Hate the injury. If history tells us anything, he won't be real useful most of this season.

God I hope not

I will say this, and I know mock drafts don't matter, but when I try some out, all the top corners are gone by our 2nd round pick. So who starts at corner? Dane Jackson? A late round flyer? I just don't know what other answer there is.

We just did this three years ago with the Elam selection.

Ingram. I'm convinced. And I think he'll be good.

I'd rather overhaul the DL in Round 1 & 2  and draft a CB in Round 4-5 who can challenge Ingram and a veteran we have yet to sign

let 3 players battle it out for CB2

Ingram has been very solid when given opportunities

of course it will depend on how the board falls, but IMO the Interior DL is priority #1 and it's not close.

If they have a 1st Round Grade on this player, he may make it into the late 40's anyway

Take Grant, Harmon or Nolen at 30.   Then move up for Revel.

Boom homerun.

Ideally you can get that done without giving up the other 2nd....& grab someone like Alfred Collins or Landon Jackson

How about we wait until we sing a guy to a big contract before he destroys his ACL.

I was watching a YouTube breakdown of top WR's... I think it was the PFF guys, maybe the ex-PFF guys... I watch so much this time of year I lose track tbh... But they get to talking about "sleepers," and both guys immediately bring up Thornton... But they both cautioned that he was a very specific-type... Basically give him the DK Metcalf route-tree as a 4th or 5th WR and let him cook kind of thing...And then they went on to literally describe EXACTLY what is missing from this Bills Offense, in detail, without mentioning the Bills once, when talking about Thornton's skills and what he would bring to the team that Drafted him. They even cautioned that teams who are looking for that 4th or 5th guy to be a star ST's player and pass on a guy like Thornton that can fill a specific role on Offense are doing so at their own risk.

Like I said before... I can see plenty of teams where Thornton would just die on the vine... If that happened in Buffalo though I gotta believe it would probably not be Thornton's fault... Because there is no team in the NFL that wants to see the Buffalo Bills add that kind of vertical weapon upside... The possibilities are endless. Beane, McD, and the coaches just have to make it happen. B-)

Well if that is the case and we grade Revel, Hairston and Amos similarly I surely hope Beane will trade down a little bit.

Even in the twitter highlight vid posted above, he doesn't get his head around on any of the downfield balls he defended. He's in great position to make a play on it, but doesn't even know where the ball is. It hits his helmet or the back of his arm & falls incomplete, or the receiver gets hands on it & he knocks it out. He looks great other than that, but I don't know how fixable it is.

This is an interesting choice for a top 30 visit. He's projected as a 7th rounder or even UDFA. He has some vertical traits but very much a developmental prospect.
