We consistently come up short in the playoffs against elite teams. So we come up short against the best teams, with the best QB, one of the best rosters, AND one of the best coaches OR we are team that dominates turnovers with an elite QB and not a whole lot more?

 

The reality is plenty of very logical paths exist to suggest we have talent issues. People just know once that is introduced it sort of undermines a lot of the things people like to protect around here.

I'll take some crap on this, but it looks like Beane doesn't know what he's doing. Even worse that Diggs was under Josh in that chart last year.

Agreed. It’s pretty hard to get an MVP without help. What Buffalo lacks in WRs, they make up for with an explosive run game and a well-rounded line. WRs aren’t exactly bad, they are just lacking a true prototypical #1. They are currently about middle of the pack in that area. I am higher on Keon Coleman than most. I think he’s going to be nasty once he hits year 3. I am reserving judgment on Kincaid until this year which is make or break for him. Knox to me is the better TE and should’ve been utilized more in the playoffs.

We do tend to beat good teams in the regular season. We keep losing to the chiefs in the playoffs.  But I do hear you about the lack of game changing talent. Milano was one. I think until we have a top 5 WR or Edge this narrative will have life.  But I don’t fully agree with it.

Bills have Josh who costs a lot but they are paying their OT’s a lot and they have a few other “mid-level” salaries mixed in like McGovern, Samuel, Palmer, and Knox. Not shocked to see them ranked so high

For YEARS, the big complaint was the oline. 'Build a dominant line',  'Keep Josh upright', 'Fix the line and everything takes care of itself'.

 

They did. We are paying 2 blue chip tackles. We just wrapped a season in which we probably had the best, most consistent offense in the league. And yet the 'Josh does it with no help, we need to invest in the offense, get him weapons' narrative thrives.

How does the line look with stationary QB? Sort of hard to tell. Allen is never in the pocket for more than 3 seconds.

We beat the best in the early 90’s as well. I think two prevailing schools of thought exist here.

 

We are really close and we keep getting closer. We will eventually kick the door down.

 

We aren’t as close as it seems, this will keep happening. We are missing ______

 

I’m in the latter pool. I believe the teams that are at the level we wish we would reach don’t tend to get to the places we have and lose 100% of those games unless deeper reasons exist why that is occurring. I expect those deeper reasons to keep leading to the same results until corrected. Talent being among them.

It's still very good.

 

I played oline for 12 years. I can tell you that in some ways it's harder to block for somebody who is constantly moving. What may be a safe redirection angle on 1 play puts your man in his lap the next.

 

There are probably as many instances of Josh creating his own pressure with happy feet in clean pockets as there are times he bails them out making free rushers miss.

It’s certainly hard to block for a mobile QB but bigger than that, it doesn’t give you any accuracy with actual win rates. Even in the run game, so you think Cook is as successful as he was without Allen threatening every stitch of the field? Literally no element of this team fails to benefit from Josh. Even on defense, we often face one dimensional teams because we are always ahead.

That last question is flat out stupid, at least from what it appears to imply.

 

Why put that there? If anything, it is clear they are getting great value.

 

And why not give us the 2024 $ allocated instead, as that is what the post seems to be about, right? We have no idea what will happen in 2025 on offense.

 

In 2024, they scored 525 points, second in the league, almost 31 points a game.

 

They had one of the best offenses ever in the NFL in 2024 and it looks like it will be even better in 2025.  Brady's second year as OC, and a better wideout room, with more experience and better talent.  IMO.

 

If the 2024 number is the same, we don't have it in the post for some reason, then it appears Beane is responsible for a tremendous bargain.
