Jalen Walker pick 30? Also I could see Starks or Emmanwori, but then we'd have to depend on a later pick at CB.

Well i don't know that a depth safety knocking hamlin off the roster makes sense at 30, if you like a player at 30 to be a potential stud in your defense at safety i think pulling the trigger is appropriate.

And he should have size... If we dont improve our Run D and our DBs are 4 of our 5 leading tacklers and we run it back with Rapp who reeks destruction anywhere he goes... opponent, teammates, self... you are gonna need players there... Not sure about Bishop being ready... one can hope.

I think we are done until after the draft. After the draft and Rookie Mini Camp and OTAs  there will be more cuts and some vets available. Think we will sign some more players then.

NFL OTAs & Minicamps Schedule

First day: April 15.

Rookie Minicamp: May 10-12.

OTA offseason workouts: May 20-22, May 28-30, June 3-6.

Mandatory minicamp: June 11-13

I anticipate seeing a veteran CB added to the roster before the draft

Almost HAS to happen.  Worst way to enter draft is with a dire need for a starter at a given position - especially a position that isn’t great in the draft.

I think we're done in FA on guys who will actually make the team. I wouldn't rule out an unexpected trade though closer to the draft.

Feel thin at CB. Wonder if we sign Rasul or not. Dane isn’t a starter, is he?

Don’t see a Benford contract for the sake of cap space. Wouldn’t provide enough room.

Edit: sportrac had us at $4.42 million in space. Where would we be if we didn’t have the cap purge last year??

I hope so. Dane sets the floor but I would like to get someone else.

That floor is a dirt floor.  I'm happy to have Dane Jackson back as depth/competing for a spot, but if he is starting on a defense that hopes to be a Super Bowl contender then it's a disaster.

Beane in his presser said he is tight against the cap, and I believe him.

I do think he is waiting for a vet CB like @Simonsaid, but he will have to push a lot of that cap into next year if it is a costly player.

After that I suspect it will only be a couple of vet minimum types until the draft.

Spotrac added another $1.5M to Josh's cap hit in LTBE incentives and it shows $3.9M under with still 6 player's contracts to be added.

He almost certainly has to restructure Dawkins and that will pretty much do it.

did it factor in Milano's new deal?

Just interested in opinions... Are we done in FA , save roster fillers and training camp bodies... or is there another move or two that we make to improve the team... and if so who are you thinking might be it... Coop, Diggs, Tre, Douglas, Samuel et al....   I am not sure who... but I think I can see us doing another reasonable move or two ... no big signings... but waiting until some of these guys are twisting in the wind for a bit and bringing them in on 1 year deals on the cheap.... or at least below Market value...  like if Douglas sits out there thru the draft I can see bringing him back on a cheaper deal... to less of an extent Tre, Samuel would cost more.... as we need a corner...  Coop and Diggs maybe but not so much at least for what I would do... plenty of others out there... do we make a trade for a player at the draft... where are you all at...  interested in your thoughts...

in a slow point now between now and the drsft because , unlike hockey, you can draft players who can start from game 1 of 2025.

post draft you see some player trades occur of those low cost on post draft contracts because of how teams drafted where somebody drafted higher and picked 2 DL making the player they drafted last year in mid trounds a bit redundant so a team might trade this player to someone else.

then you have june buyouts to spread out cap space opening up some cap room.

If he sets the floor than we're living in a basement at CB2.

The CBs on the roster currently comprise 1 4th round pick (Taron Johnson), 1 6th round pick (Benford), 1 7th round pick (Dane Jackson) and two undrafted guys (Cam Lewis and Jamarcus Ingram).  They currently have NOBODY who could be a credible season opening starter.
