Thank you! I just sighed and asked myself “am I going to have to do this?” But here we are! I always root for the dark color jerseys the first weekend, unless it’s a Xavier game! At the moment, I am LOVING McNeese St taking it to Clemson. My FIL played football for the Gamecocks in the waaaay back, so a long shot beating Clemson would be awesome! BTW - When did they start interviewing players at halftime? I thought that was just a coach thing. 2 minutes ago, US Egg said: Avid Big East follower in the ‘80’s, St. John’s for me. Put 5 large on McNeese St. Oops, correction, put 5 large on Clemson winning. I got bets all over. ($5 is large to me) Edited March 20 by US Egg 1 Quote

Mark Vader Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 Does Georgia know they are in the tournament? Quote
Augie Posted March 20 Posted March 20 McNeese State just has better athletes and basketball players than Clemson. I’m curious to see who they play and how they look in the next game. Or is Clemson (and the ACC) just that weak? 2 minutes ago, Mark Vader said: Does Georgia know they are in the tournament? Oh my! Apparently not! The good thing is, if it’s not UGA FOOTBALL, it is just a minor sadness…..if the people around here notice at all. At least they are not that NFL Falcon team. It’s extremely rare to see Falcon gear in Atlanta. I mean, yes, it happens, but I’ve also seen a Painted Bunting outside my kitchen. 1 Quote

Yeah, basketball is a luxury for the Bulldogs, its not like football. I've heard that about the Falcons. Why is it that way? Very strange. Quote

Why is it that way? Very strange. College football is everything in the South. The people who have been here for generations and have roots have a college team and they own it proudly. The other people are generally here for a career (as we are and our son is), and they come from all over the place. They have no allegiance to any local NFL or NBA team. I think “we’ve” lost hockey twice? On the flip side, the MLS games ROCK! Everybody has fun at those games! I guess it’s high energy and nobody has “a team” already. MLS is its own thing, and very cool. . Edited March 20 by Augie 1 Quote

We knew multiple people who got in with lower GPA’s and SAT’s. Plus, he was POY as QB of the football team, all area in every sport, and did a ton of volunteer work. I ran into a guy at a bar who did interviews for acceptance at UGA. He said if my son had checked a box saying he was 50% Lebanese he would have been at the top of the pile for acceptance. My SIL went to Vandy and did admissions there as well as Wharton and Penn State. She says that’s how it works, they have different buckets to fill. Our son went to FSU, and his wife went to UGA. We got it covered! EDIT: My FIL ruled on that decades ago, they would not seek an advantage, even if it meant reducing his own kids tuition. I admired that man. Edited March 20 by Augie 1 Quote
Steptide Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) None of these games today have been a big surprise. Kinda boring first day. Edit - I take that back, Clemson is about to lose to.... Mcneese? Edited March 20 by Steptide Quote

Augie Posted March 20 Posted March 20 7 minutes ago, Mark Vader said: FSU, as in Florida State? Yep! I dropped him off at the dorm in Tallahassee and helped him move in as a freshman. When he was doing his graduate year we told him we were meeting friends there for a football game, will you be around? He’s the independent type, we had not been back to Tallahassee since I moved him in 5 years earlier. It was fun to take all his buddies out for dinners and getting to know them. A lot of great stories, and pretty much all the guys in his weddings a few years later. 1 Quote
