if we are talking about Jimmy Connors, this is one thing I remember: chasing down these overheads at the US Open.

My first memory of him was this match.  I thought even as a kid he seemed kind of like an ass how he was celebrating.

That and a friend from middle school used to have a Jimmy Connors jacket.  I think he had his own clothes line in the 90s

I had the same impression of Connors. Never really liked him.  I actually was a bigger McEnroe fan as a kid.

Just popped in my head.... the Sabres Gilbert Perreault.

Number one draft pick overall in 1970 and worth every ounce of it. It was fun to watch him play.

Gilbert is my all time favorite player.

Tony Gwynn was not just one of the best hitters in MLB history, but he was a great basketball player as well.

In fact:

Tony Gwynn had more assists as a college basketball player than he did strikeouts in the MLB

Number of strikeouts in his career: 434

Number of assists at San Diego State University: 596

He was about 40 for that match, and I clearly remember that energy. Get a night crowd at the US Open pumped, and you’ve got an amazing experience.

Marie-Philip Poulin, who some considered to be the greatest female hockey player of all time, once jaywalked out in front of my car and I almost hit her.

I get Tony Gwynn short videos all the time on my FB feed.  He was unreal.

I think he faced Maddux, Smoltz and Glavine like 200+ times in his career and only struck out once.

Hector "Macho" Camacho used to come out to the Ring in the wildest outfits.

I met Hector in Puerto Rico shortly before he was killed.  He was playing pool and accepting challengers.  I put my dollar down and beat him.  He was very edgy.  If I had to guess he was on some drugs.

He was dressed fairly normal (t-shirt and jeans.)  He did put on a black leather jacket before he left.  This was a little strange as it was a billion degrees out.  Who knows, maybe he was riding a motorcycle.

That's pretty wild but very believable.  Alot of those Boxers lived crazy lives and I'm sure it was tough to adjust to normal life after their careers are over.  Still a cool memory to have though
