Agree. They have outdated ownership.

At this point the tank might be unintentional.  The QB situation is a mess and, frankly, laughable for a team that intends to compete in that division.

I mean…It all sounds good in theory.  This was their strategy last season.  But consider who they used the picks on - Keon Coleman, Cole Bishop, DeWayne Carter.

The book is still out on all players.  Though after year 1, it’s looking like Coleman and Carter might not be much better than depth.

It all goes back to hitting on the picks you make whether that’s round 1 or round 3

Certainly - agree that it all comes down to who you pick.  They need to get that right, and on the specific players - they have to judge that.  Last year, I was very upset when they took Coleman over McConkey, but I am all in for hoping Keon works out.  I am worried about him though due to inability to separate.  We will see about Bishop and Carter, I still think both will be good.  And Ray Davis.  And Grable, perhaps.  And perhaps the LB.  It has not done much yet, but I think last year's draft may end up being a pretty good one.  Coleman is the one that worries me most.

Just because you draft high doesn’t guarantee you a blue chipper elite player. We had the 9th pick and got Ed Oliver who has been solid, was seen as a blue chipper but didn’t. We traded up to get a monster LB who was young in Edmunds who a lot of people would turn into an elite player and it never materialized.

So true, even in a year like the 2011 draft.

Just look at the top 6 picks: Cam Newton, Von Miller, Marcell Dareus, A.J. Green, Patrick Peterson, Julio Jones. One of those is not like the others.

Yea even when this team has had high picks mostly in the past, the vast majority were good to bust players and more on the bust side. Reason why we didn’t make the playoffs for so long

Here’s my question - what makes you think Carter will be any good.  It seems that Bills fans are clinging to #1 his one great stuff against Tennessee and #2 struggling due to his wrist injury.  I’m not sure we can put much stock into either.

Carter was one of the worst lineman on the defense which is why he was scratched late in the year.  Just like Coleman, I don’t think he can be much more than a depth piece.  Not what you want out of your second and third round picks.

Jury is out on Bishop who made some good and bad plays his rookie season.  He too was injured but at least he was active on game day

You plan to trade up to #2 Overall, or even #9, for a couple 2nds and 3rds?  It would be pushing it even including #30.  Those teams need "generational talent" just as much as anybody else, probably more.

At least it would be easier to talk about if we had 3 2nd rounders and 2 3rd rounders

I know. Cam Newton is the only quarterback on the list

We’ll need to trade up for Grant IMO

Lets just pull the band aid off and go for it !

But it takes at least two to tango and this dance won't be cheap.

Do you believe he is the best DT in draft?

We won't know who the "Best DT in the Draft" is until years after we Draft them.

People didn't think Josh Allen was the best QB in the 2018 Draft. The Ravens took Lamar Jackson at 32, while the Cardinals spent the 10th pick in the Draft on Josh Rosen. In 2019 Justin Jefferson was the 5th WR taken in the 1st Round.

We traded up to the 4th Pick in 2014 to take what was considered the Best WR prospect in years in Sammy Watkins. We could have taken the 2nd best in Mike Evans or the 3rd best in Odell Beckham Jr.

Just because they're the top rated prospect or even considered a "Blue Chip" talent doesn't mean they're going to be that at the Pro Level.

They come few and far between for any franchise during an era, let alone multiple. We got a guy, potentially, in the top 5 of all time at his position in Josh.

IMO, if anything, we need the solid to better players to be consistent when it matters. Our QB is talented enough to get us there alone.

Is he really though ? Dan Marino made one SB in his 2nd year and never went back. It’s not always a given. I agree with OP to an extent. If someone they feel is elite at a position of need falls out of the top 10, they need to see what it might cost. Buffalo has 10 draft picks. What’s the point of all that ammo if you aren’t going to wheel & deal ? I feel Iike the FO has the same mindset as you. Josh is good enough to get it done. Maybe so ? But I don’t want to luck out into just one SB. Allen is good enough to be part of a dynasty IF he has the support to do so.

They don't have a load of ammo. Five of those 10 picks are late 5th or 6th rounders. Those are next to hopeless for moving up in round 1.

Fair point. But somewhat the talent to get us is there is evident. It’s a team sport at the end of the day, especially in the playoffs.

Im not in any way saying we don’t need anyone else to elevate the chances of winning in the regular and post season but hammering the point of needing another generational talent to get there isn’t the be all end all. We just need the better players we have to actually show up.

Also to your point of trading up, I am absolutely with you. If you feel strongly about this roster then you absolutely have to make moves to get guys who can move the needle closer to Super Bowl contention. There’s potentially a few holes coming up on this team. Especially in the secondary. For that reason I’m inclined myself to believe they maximize additions this year and the next. Corner is a massive looming concern, especially if Benford proves himself out of Buffalo with another very strong year. Would they tag him if that’s the case? You would hope so but that solution is also in play for Cook and maybe even Bosa if he stays healthy and racks up the sacks and a deal isn’t worked out.

They need elite talent. Every team does. Finding generational ones? That’s not as easy a task to hang your hat on.

Still ticks me off that we needed to give up a 3rd for bringing in Cooper because Beane never drafted or traded for Diggs replacement.  We could easily package our 1st round pick and two 2nd round picks to get into the top half of the 1st round of the draft but man would it be nice to have that 3rd round pick though.

Yep, and it is why I hate any rationale anywhere that links the Bills picks early in this draft to the fact he has signed two suspended guys. You don't get to use your own screw ups as a rationale for the next move you make.
