BigDingus Posted yesterday at 02:50 PM Posted yesterday at 02:50 PM Of course he does. The idea of a "hometown discount" is a fan expectation, not an NFL reality. When you play better than the large majority of players in the league (and at the hardest position), you should expect to be paid better than those other guys. 1 Quote

A player can accept whatever contract they want that doesn't violate the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The more he takes, the more he's taking from his teammates. NFLPA Contract Negotiation: The NFLPA (National Football League Players Association) does not require players to accept specific contracts, but they do represent players in contract negotiations and ensure the terms of the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) are met. While the NFLPA represents players in contract negotiations, it doesn't dictate which contracts players must accept. Players have the right to negotiate their own contracts with teams, and the NFLPA helps them in this process. The NFLPA cannot block a contract thats been approved by the NFL and agreed upon by the player. I'm not saying that the NFLPA is going to do anything legally. To think that Josh and other players aren't getting advice from their agents and the NFLPA is poor thinking. I'm also not saying that players don't take less than they can get, but they aren't going to take a deal well below market value. Brady took less, everyone knows that, but it's not like he was taking $1 million when he could be getting $25 million. He was still always among the top 5-10 paid QBs in the league, he was just never the top paid guy. This has somehow devolved from thinking from a realistic and common sense point of view into a legal discussion Edited 23 hours ago by Ya Digg? Quote
