I suspect this will be the last year for Taron as well given the potential out next year. Looking at the End of an era.

If they think that Taron's level of play is going to look like last year, they should draft a nickle cb this year.

He took a large, noticeable step back this year.

He and Milano in their prime were all pros in this defense, for sure.

6m in recovered cap space is like throwing a deck chair off the titanic.

He should have been released and Bills should be moving forward with Dorian Williams

You might suggest that Williams is the better player ? Or that Milano has availability issues ?

Or just the money aspect.

I think this was the right deal at the right time. For both Team and Matt.

But I have a spot in my heart for Milano as a Buffalo Bill . Much like Taron Johnson.

Glad Beane treated this honorably to be honest

and He might have one heck of a season for Us 👍

Spotrac has updated the contract, so I don't know what his Dead Cap hit would have been before it was changed. Right now on the restructured deal, it's at about 23m. I suspect outright cutting him wouldn't have saved us what we saved in the pay cut/restructure. Or else, they might have just done it.

That's probably right.  If the Bills do decide to cut ties I'm assuming that he'll want to keep playing, but part of me hopes that he'll consider hanging it up given the number of concussions he's sustained.

Spotrac could use a glossary section. Maybe it's there, I've missed it

I tried searching and got nothing.

They gave Milano little more guaranteed cash.  They are not cutting him so his dead cap for 2025 is meaningless.

Bills saved $3M on his contract.  It's $11M dead next year just like it would of been if the Bills cut him next spring.

Note:  Not $6M in cap savings this year like some tweet said.

Obviously, but I was replying to someone who was complaining about a meager cap savings and argued they should have just outright cut him and moved on with Williams.

And I don't think it would have helped the cap any more to cut him. I'd assume it would have been more detrimental to do so than what we ended up doing. But it's hard to tell without looking at what the contract was before the move, that Spotrac has already updated to reflect.

Oh, I see your point.  I looked at the contract before the new one came online but can't remember what the original cap hit was if cut today.

I'm thinking it would have been a few million less than it is now, but I'm not certain.

I love too but he gets hurt in literally every game. He usually comes back but it’s crazy.

I wonder how asking your own guy to take a pay cut while dishing out $$$ to 2 players out for 1/3 of the season goes over amongst the team

I think mature players who have been around the block understand this.

CJ Gardner-Johnson said as much when he got traded. I don’t have the exact quote but it essentially alluded to “I’ve been around, there are some young guys who have stepped up and now need to be paid. It’s part of the life cycle and the business of the game. I had my moment and now it’s someone else’s”

Some sure seem to get it. And others are more likely to reject that kind of critical awareness / capitulation.

So many variables we're not privy to in most cases.

Love Matt, but he’s been off the field quite a bit recently.

If he plays lights out, the Bills could reverse field and sign him after next season. If, they got their out.

Unless he plays absolute lights out and doesn’t have a single injury, this is his last season. Don’t see the team rolling the dice on him regardless how well he plays.
