Until the hawks find out they are there

Nice to hear all the progressives chiming in on how they find self-sufficiency so difficult.

Very few modern day Americans would have survived 150 years ago . That would make a great reality TV show

it made a great book

I wouldn't recommend anyone try it unless they were researching for one.

Do you raise chickens? Livestock?  If not, shut up. We tried. It wasn’t economically feasible nor worth our time. If we had to do it, we could. As it is, we get our eggs at the farmers market every Saturday from neighbors who know us. We’d buy meat there except I don’t like grass fed meat. For a while, we got raw milk by owning a share in a cow and made our own cheese. Mozzarella is easy. Other types are difficult. 😥 The Btw, Canada has no egg shortage. Do you know why?

I grew up on a farm and busted my ass on it and had other friends that had farms growing up that we all used to help out on when ever they need it and spent every summer working between farms for extra money so I probably have a bit more knowledge than your liberal ass does thank you very much .

Where you experimented with it in your yuppy life I lived it ...

As far as s the Canada question it Trumps fault ...

The answer to the old joke was “between Wendy’s legs.”  Now that has another meaning…

You will...and a neighbor dog, and a fox and a coyote and a raccoon (the worst) and a weasel (maybe worse than raccoons) and a bobcat and an owl (if anyone is out after dark) and your mom's golden retriever and anything else that can possibly kill a chicken...will.

bobcats and owls are beautiful but nature is often vicious.  Chickens are cannibals at times.

My cats and my dog protect them pretty well. I killed the fox and the mink last summer that was snooping around. My cat broke its femur against the fox. Had a rooster that killed a chicken: but death happens.

Did the value of the eggs outweigh the cost of the vet or did you just kill the cat?

3k for the cat. It’s my daughters. It’s the cost of owning a pet. Nothing to do with the eggs. We like owning chickens. Kids love em too. That’s worth it
