Magox Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I've been wanting to create a thread on this topic, the two most undervalued position groupings has/had been the RB and CB positions. RB's are now beginning to get paid closer to what I believe are there more fair valuations. The CB market up until now had the highest paid guy at $25M AAV, which is criminally undervalued. If WR's are the 2nd/3rd highest paid groupings with the max at $40M AAV, then the guys who have the ability to cover those guys on an island should be paid at a somewhat commensurate valuation. Stingley's contract is 20% higher than the next closest guy. That is a blowout resetting contract at that position. I think this is probably the disconnect between Benford and the Bills, I'm guessing the Bills are offering a team friendly deal of around $20M AAV and Benford is looking for $25M AAV. Despite what some may believe that he is only a Zone Cover DB, he has demonstrated that he can play man to man sort of coverages at a high level. There is no way in my view that the Bills at some point whether its this year or next let him walk away without either tagging or extending him. Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago that's cute. Benford hasn't proven he's anywhere near that IMO 5 1 Quote
MrEpsYtown Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He's so good. So much better than Sauce despite not having a stupid nickname. Stingley is the real deal. 3 5 2 Quote
ProcessTruster Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Benford probably now thinking that it might be best to play out his final contract year. Big choice coming for the young man. With the concusson risk, starting to think the Bills should have him play out the contract and see where we are during and after the season. Quote
GunnerBill Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Deserved contract. Guy is a stud. But if I am the Broncos I feel really good about having the best corner in football tied in for the next 5 years for $6m less than the position ceiling. That shows you the advantage in going early. While this definitely impacts the Bills with Benford it hurts the Jets and Chiefs even more with the Sauce / McDuffie contracts to come. 3 5 1 Quote
uninja Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I still don't think it's wise to give Benford $25m AAV, even after this. 2 1 Quote

It feels nice until that phone that's a Mile High in the sky rings and it's Surtain's agent saying..."Hey fellas...we need to chat...." Quote
RyanC883 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago yeah, thankfully this is a CB deep draft. I'm starting to wonder if we grab 2. Something like Amos/Morrisson, then Strong/Dotson/Parrish/Dotson/Bryant later. Quote
Buffalo03 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago These contracts are getting out of hand. Soon teams will be paying punters $20 million a year 2 Quote

If you are not tired of paying for tickets, streaming services, and memorabilia etc.. then this is exactly what you are paying for. Until the fans make a statement with their wallets and pocketbooks not a single thing will change. Myself I spend maybe $300 a year for the Sunday ticket but last year I waited till the 2nd half before I even made the purchase at a discount. 3 Quote

There isn't anything wrong with that. Edited 2 hours ago by MJS 4 1 Quote
Steve Billieve Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Contracts are mostly about risk and replacement levels. rb and cb just get hurt/fall off too often and they're also the most nfl ready of the position groups out of college. 1 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I’ve been thinking that Benford becomes a prime franchise tag candidate. This makes it even more likely IMO. If he gets through this year, at the level he played at this year, he gets tagged next year if a deal can’t be worked out. He may even get it twice. 1 2 Quote
gobills404 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago At this point just wait until next year to extend Benford. I he’s gonna cost us somewhere in this ballpark anyways then might as well make sure he can replicate what he did this past year. Quote
SoonerBillsFan Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Benford isn't getting anywhere near that. 2 Quote

Teams can't afford paying every position $30 or $40 million a year and as you said, if I am paying for tickets, I wanna see a good product. When you have to let some good players go because you are paying DBs $30 million a year, then it isn't intriguing to the fan Quote
