40/yr for Chase
29/yr for Higgins

50/yr for Burrow

A master class in paying WR instead of your premiere trench players. Ya love to see it.

I may be in the minority (and I am not even convinced I truly believe this) but this is bad team building, IMO. An elite QB shouldn't need a $70M/year WR duo. Should have extended Chase, traded Tee, and spent the money and draft pocks on defense/ o line.

this team building got them to a SB couple years ago.

The Eagles

32/yr for AJ Brown

25/yr for Smith
51/yr for Hurts

20.6/yr for Barkley

Keeping the weapons for your QB isn't a dumb move imo as long as you draft properly.

Bengals won't.  Mike Brown's still the GM and they have the smallest scouting department in the league with only 5

Yea can’t say I’m excited those guys stay together. These contracts make the Bengals margin for error less because the rest of their teams depth is going to be shallow. But if they get good injury luck, and Golden stabilizes the defense, they are going to be a tough team those years. If they don’t get lucky, it’ll probably be like this year for them. But it only takes one year to go on a Super Bowl run.

You can't be mad at Cincy. They are keeping the best WR duo in the league together, for their Top 3 in the league QB. They drafted all three of these guys and have kept them all for the foreseeable future. It also helps with the stigma about Mike Brown not paying his players. They also re-signed Gesicki, who had a bit of a rebirth in that offense. If they don't start the year like a bottom feeder again, then they should be right there in the mix for Playoff contention. Then, if they get in, they will be a tough out. They still need to get better all over the place though. OL, DL, Secondary, and we're talking multiple positions. But if they get fortunate in the draft, they already have the other pieces locked in place.

This team building also kept them out of the playoffs the last two years and also have given up about 27 ppg.

When you have an elite QB with 2 top WR’s, being in the mix of playoff contention isn’t good enough.  You’re supposed to be top Super Bowl favorites.

They still can’t block for Burrow and they have gotten worse on defense….

Good for the players to get paid. The offense will be fun to watch as always.

That said, is there any QB in history that's been propped up by the talent around him more than Burrow? Going back to his historical season coming out of college when he has Chase and Jefferson to the NFL where he has Chase and Higgins? I'm not saying he's not talented...he is.

But switch him and Allen out. Drop Burrow on the Bills offense and this is a 9-10 win team. Drop Allen in that offense with those weapons and it would more than mask the defense and OL issues and Cincinnati may be a 14-15 win team. IMO

Sorry when you have to pay this much to elite WRs you do not have an elite QB. You have Justin Herbert with more talent around him.

That’s has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with their respective play in the postseason.

Isn't that what most are saying? Burrow gets quality receiver's whilst Josh, in general, deals with second tier players. For all the pot shots at the Bengals defense, the Bills haven't been much better in the post season.

The plus side is the Bills O Line is in much better shape than the Bengals'.

No it didn’t this was before they paid anyone

they also didn’t resign a lot of key defensive players that left after the Super Bowl and that’s when they started to have meh seasons

This is the exact opposite of what Beane and McDermott.

The Bengals have put all their eggs in one basket - the explosive passing offense basket. They are forcing themselves to be one dimensional, or to try to be balanced without the personnel to have an effective running game.

There's a reason teams in the NFL don't have two #1 receivers.  Bengals didn't get the memo.

Yes! Yes he does. He sucked in college until he got to LSU and got Jefferson and Chase. He lost the job at OSU to Dwayne Haskins. The general take is that this was a massive mistake by Urban Mayer. But maybe Joe Burrow has to have an all-pro team to be effective?

I’m never giving urban Mayer the benefit of the doubt. Haskins and burrow are very different players and I think burrow has more than done enough to show he can be effective.

Yeah, but just think of all the gaudy stats Burrow will put up.  Burrow knows the team will be lucky to field a decent defense, but he will get his numbers and analysts will talk about how his defense let him down.  The year Cincy had a good defense, that showed up in the playoffs, they went to the Super Bowl.  Go figure.

That FO has single handily crippled that franchise.

I mean, sure Burrow will put up some numbers with two #1 WR's to throw to, but what about getting the time to actually get them the ball with a below average Oline........and don't even get me started on their D.

It almost seems like something foolish the Fins would do.

The Bengals must've misread the 3v3 Olympic basketball/hockey for football.

Burrow, Chase, and Higgins - make up what, half the cap? Lol.

Bengals will score 30 a game and also give up 30 a game.

Hope your offseason is going well! Good seeing you on here.  You can substitute BILLS for bengals. Same type of unbelievable things these franchises seem to always find themselves in.  Even listening to beane wiggle. out of this he still knew fully one guy was suspended, further narrowing margins of error.   This is just one more example of biillsey things with this regime.  If I was pegula , I would finally have reached a limit of throwing good money down the drain because of my gm and scouting staff not improving the quality of signings.  Two guys out for a third of the season right on heels of a failed first rounder like Elam , Also Edmund’s inbthe past and Tate worthy/ Coleman optics from last year.

It may be the NFL, but guess what, it’s time for accountability.  I would st Beane down and discuss a three week period of docking salary and allow Beane to pass 25% down line.  No firings, just a few weeks where Beane feels not earring either and let’s see if some urgency , not just being a nice guy is required.  It’s 8-9 years.  Lots of wasted money , maybe others Ned some skin in the game.  Patience as an owner has been perfect. Maybe a little pressure is needed    Jk, but  would be furious and looking to spread some accountability!  Man, they just always find a way to look foolish for no reason.   Have good march madness!   😊✌️

It's just so tempting, when you find yourself with two receivers like that and a QB with an arm and great accuracy.

Defensive strategies the Bengals will see:

1. Blistering pass rush to make it tough to have the time to go deep. Burrow is going to get hit a lot.

2. Two-deep safeties.

3. Other strategies to stop the pass.

If the Bengals spend any money on the offensive line, it will be for pass protectors, because if they can't protect Burrow, they will have wasted their money on receivers.  In other words, the Bengals almost certainly will have poor run blockers, and they showed a year ago they wouldn't pay a quality running back like Mixon.

All of which means they're forcing themselves to be one-dimensional, and one-dimensional doesn't work in the NFL.
