I’m really curious what round Jordan Philips (Maryland) goes in - but would be interested in the bills betting on his upside early day 3.

The draft is about 5 weeks away, combine, senior bowl, and first wave of free agency are done. So it's kind of a time when a lot of smokescreens and shake ups happen in mock drafts and rumors start to fly.

Outside of the top guys I think CJ West from Indiana is a great fit here.

Jordan Phillips would be fine as well but I think he needs to develop a pass rush

Idgaf about the 1 tech being a pass rusher and you are locked in at 3T even if I don’t like it w Oliver.  Get a space eater and let Oliver go up field.

A neat Combine Tidbit... "Collins' arm length of 34 5/8 inches was the best in the class."

Josh Farmer from FSU has 35 inch arms, Zeek Biggers were also…bigger.

Biggers is worth a late round selection because not many people are as big and athletic as him. Farmer reminds me of former Bill Jordan Phillips.

What about Peebles? From va tech. He's undersized but a great athlete

Farmer has a little bit of Jalen Carter in him. I'm hoping he's there rd 2.

Jordan Phillips is a former wrestler and only 20. I definitely think he's on our radar

Farmer:

Pass rush needs some work but definitely a beast.  Goodness.

Farmer isn’t a beast. He looks like one but he was a constant underachiever at FSU. I’m a Florida State fan. He and Patrick Payton were supposed to take over for Jared Verse and Braden Fiske and both failed miserably. Farmer has all the tools to be a beast but has yet to prove more than he has physical attributes

And it’s concerning that the Bills have shown quite a bit of interest in him

That’s what I’m talking about.  I haven’t seen enough of him to know if he’s underachieved, takes plays off, etc.

The strength pops.

I second the Alfred Collins take, he is great.

Some day 3 guys who could fill in at 1Tech:

You basically get no pass rush from him, but Maryland’s Jordan Phillips is one of the youngest players in the draft, was awesome at the Shrine Bowl and is a strong MFer.

CJ West is another great run defender but won’t get much out of him in the pass rush.

I was getting confused with one guy being called a poor man’s Jordan Phillips and then talk of drafting Jordan Phillips.  Now I understand.  Pretty funny.  So, he would just take the old Jordan Phillips jersey.

I'm founder member of the CJ West fan club. I like Phillips too, I flagged him before the Shrine Bowl as one of my ones to watch and he had a great week of practice there. I didn't think he was as dominant in the game as I'd have liked, but I'm not going to over weight performance in an all star game. If either of those could be had with our first 4th round pick that is the sort of range where they'd represent excellent value.

So take a LT if he is highest rated and ignore glaring needs?  It sounds like something Tom Donahoe would do.

Like I said, every board is unique to the team.  We don’t have a LT rated higher than DT in the first 3 rounds.  Now if that was a generational LT, I trade back for picks or draft him.  Top talent finds the field.  Did the Eagles need Cooper DeJean?  Would we be better off with DeJean or Keon this upcoming season?

I generally agree with you about bpa. But the overall consensus is that bpa will be on the dline or possibly a cb/s.... That's where the talent is

Maybe if the linebacker/ pass rusher from Alabama falls a bit that's another bpa I would take. Campbell from Alabama is pretty awesome

But everything I'm reading is he is skyrocketing. So is the safety from Georgia starks

I have no problem trading up for Starks, Golden, or Grant.  No draft has 32 rated first round picks.  These 3 might be BPA around 20, and worth trading up for.  In all about trading back.  Unless there is a superior talent available striking range

Yea what I love about CJ is that he anchored the Indiana line that gave up the second fewest rushing yards in college football. The only team that was better was Ole Miss who is gonna have their entire line and most of their defense drafted. Love that he crushed the combine too because I think peak athleticism is important at the DT position if the player is ever to have a shot to be a dominant player. If his arms were just longer he would probably be a day 2 guy, may still be.

From all reports I saw Phillips dominated the practices which are much more important. But it’s clear he really doesn’t know how to rush the passer from his time at MD. As you had said in a previous thread, could see either of them getting lots of playing time at 1tech as rookies.

This is the move right here and I'm embarrassed to say how much I would give up to get high enough to guarantee we get him.

Where do you think we need to get to?  around pick 20?

Bills were among a handful of teams that met with Zeek Biggers at his Pro Day according to Tony Pauline

All depends on how the early part of the draft falls of course. But I'd say anywhere from 15-20 sounds right for him come draft day.

Not a. Whaley fan but he really did draft BPA. Beane has never done so. He takes his biggest need every year.

TJ is a really good player. But not a fit for Buffalo because he is an alternative to Ed Oliver not a compliment.

Tyleik. Meh. He is a very good run stuffer but he offers very little backfield penetration potential. If he gets to a round 2 pick I'd consider?

Hi Gunner, who in this DT class is a good match with Oliver?  I imagine that the list is a fairly small subset of this touted DT class.  I’m thinking Grant, Collins, Harmon, Nolan, Alexander, Williams, Farmer, Phillips, Pegues, Caldwell and maybe West.
