Beane also seemed very embarrassed in his press conference. But "this is the last straw, let's fire him"? C'mon, man. Ridiculous. If the Ogunjobi thing hadn't happened. If it was just "hey, we signed a guy for three years but he's gonna start out with a six game suspension", it would be odd, but for the most part, people wouldn't think too much of it. This stuff happens in the NFL. The fact that it then happened with Ogunjobi right afterwords is what makes it a weird and embarrassing situation. But again...a fireable offense? Preposterous. 1 1 3 Quote

How was Brandon Beane supposed to know that Larry Ogunjobi -- with a spotless NFL resume and being the Steelers' 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee -- was going to get a PED suspension BEFORE it happened? I guess you can ding him for still deciding to go ahead with the contract after finding out, but his explanation that the market had become pretty depleted and they decided they'd rather have him for 11 games plus playoffs than start from scratch and sign a lesser talent seems reasonable to me. Likewise, if you want to ding him for deciding to sign Hoecht to a three-year deal despite knowing about his six game suspension, I can understand that. But the Bills signed him for 51 games worth of contract. With that in mind, missing six games due to suspension doesn't seem disqualifying. All of this is obviously less than ideal. But the "this is the last straw, fire Brandon Beane" stuff is hilarious to me. I’m not on the “fire Beane” bandwagon … but it’s an ordinary look happening with 2 guys they just signed IMO… having them both miss the first third of the season is far from ideal … Quote
YoloinOhio Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago You can’t make this ***** up 😭 It’s ok they will be fresh and extra motivated for when it matters 1 1 1 Quote

But with Hoecht, we still have Groot, Bosa, and Epenesa and it's still possible they Draft a guy in the first couple days. And it's not like he signed him to a 1 year deal. He felt it was worth it and it very well may be. Ogunjobi just sucks. We only signed him to a 1 year deal. But like you said - if he was completely unaware, how's that a Beane mistake? And also like you said, it's not like there's someone better than him out there that they could void the deal and in better shape. It definitely takes DT from a top need in the Draft to probably THE top need. 1 Quote

It's a bit embarrassing and, as I have said, actually pretty hilariously unbelievable. But I stand by the statement that this thread is filled with overreactions. Quote

Is it possible this has anything to do with the new bills strength and conditioning coach? Seems like pretty strange coincidence. Will we ever find out if both guys were caught using the same ped? How would this have anything to do with the strength coach on a team they hadn’t even reported to yet? 1 1 Quote
jahnyc Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I was really happy with re-signing our own players before the start of free agency, but free agency for the Bills has been a real downer. I guess we will never know who we wanted to sign, but, other than Bosa, I am not seeing a lot of help coming from this group. Palmer did not put up good numbers in his years with the Chargers to warrant the deal that he received, Hoecht will not be available for the first six games of the season, Ogunjobi is not the defensive lineman we need to be the middle anchor of the D-line and also will be suspended for the first six games, Jackson is not an adequate starter or back-up, and we really have not addressed significant needs at CB or safety. I like Beane, but this is a really bad look for the Bills and in particular Beane. 1 Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I'm confused though, don't our team dr's test these guys before they officially sign? Quote
SirAndrew Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Great, we already excel at signing subpar defensive players, then we find a couple who can’t even play. 1 Quote

Bro, I put more care into my Amazon packages than he does for players that he’s paying tens of millions of dollars for.. He didn’t check this out with the league before he signed these guys? Really? You think that these guys would hire PI’s to comb through these guy’s backgrounds before they pay them this kind of money.. I’m dumbfounded.. And I’m not going to go tit for tat with you over Beane’s blunders, but this isn’t the only time he’s royally screwed up. This is so embarrassing for our organization. 1 1 Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Disheartening for the organization. I wonder if there will be pressure to make a move that takes this out of people’s minds a bit Edited 10 hours ago by Warriorspikes51 Quote
boater Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago But six games? I thought this type of conduct got you 4 games. Quote
GunnerBill Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago What in the name of......? This amateurish. Which for all that I have criticised some of Beane's evaluations and roster building is not a word I have ever associated with him before. This is old Bills behaviour. Not the buttoned up, professional outfit we have been. Really, really disappointing. 5 1 Quote
Aussie Joe Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago AJE breathing a lot easier now … no chance of him being traded this off-season 1 Quote
